Good to see the BIG BOY on the rails once again. They were built by ALCO, just down the road from me in Schenectady, New York.

I thought trains never ran late.......... only an hour and 15 minutes... but well worth the wait... very impressive.. on its way to st.paul then Duluth and back through Wisconsin.  I have video but don’t know how to load it..

Upload to YouTube and link here ..

Those loco's are so long they don't like going around corners, sometime have to go at a crawl to make it around.
Many .. many safety concerns ..
Takes hours to get them ready to move, plus a whole crew of people.

They go thru huge amounts of fuel and water !
Have to have trucks with fuel / water at points.
Is it burning oil or coal ?

They have a very similar model at the Duluth MN Railroad Museum. The Missabe & Iron Range No. 227, a 2-8-8-4 Yellowstone type built in 1941 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for ore train service. You can climb around in it. Worth checking out if you are in the area.
