The V-156 and GT150 are the easiest to find, a T-166 might be a little harder.
Something will show up, took me 4 years to find my V-156, and I ended up buying and restoring another boat waiting for the perfect V-156.

Hyperacme...thanks very much for your advice.

Very much appreciated.

I actually found one in a junk yard and is going to need to be gutted, refirbed, repowered and "dollsed" up. I am really not familiar with bringing a Glastron back to life so not sure what to expect and how much it will actually run me.

You will be money ahead finding one in good shape or that some one has already restored.
You will end up with far far more into the boat then it will ever be worth, unless you plan on keeping it forever.
I have near $7000 into my CV and would be lucky to get $3000 if I were to sell it now.
And I did almost all the work on my boat ... With the help of member on the forum ...
If I had a shop do it ... would have been close to $10,000 ...
Just something to think about before beginning a major project.

While not being worth the expense ... It is very rewarding to restore an old boat. car or motorcycle.
Doing it over the course of a year or two, you don't have to come up with all the money at one time.

Even on a old boat that looks like new, there can be problems.
Most old boats will have rotted wood, which needs to be cut out and glass around it ground out.
Cut some new wood and glass it in ...
Do some reading on the subject and ask some question on others projects.

Gregg's advice is spot on.  Try to find a good one . . . and then make it better.

The advice buried in this forum is invaluable.  To start with pick up this book; you can probably find it at your local library as well.

Welcome

Thank you David and Gregg.

I really don't mind doing some minor work now and then say in 1 year or so do a complete re-build.

And it doesn't have to be perfect but I want something that I can splash now and safely take my 8,5 and 2 year old out in and make their day (and mine too ;)

I really appreciate your time and advice fellas.

I am eagerly looking for a 1969 "swinger" or the 1977 T166. The years are very important.

Again, thank you.

OK ...  Though the 1977 T-166 looked like the older V-166's.
Are you looking for the T-166XL with silver flake ?
Is color more important then year ?
They made T-166's in silver up until 1980.
Name changed to T-159 by 1980.

The years are very important.

I can't help but ask why the years are very important? Did you have these in the past?

The years...LOL

1977...year I was born.

1969...I like the nostalgia of the year.

I know that is crazy...but determined to find one of the two.

*AND thank you all for helping me in the search.
