ISO Tandem trailer
« on: April 14, 2021, 03:33:08 PM »
our V249 that weighs 6600lbs is sitting on a nice eagle trailer that unfortunately is only rated at 5000lbs.
so i prob need somthing with a gross of 8K
have been watching CL and FB, also have cold called some places that have used stuff but have not found anything yet.
figured i would post in case anyone knows of something that may be for sale but not listed anywhere.
will also consider a usable trailer with a big ugly cruiser on it that needs to be scrapped.

You just made an epic journey home with it, have you checked the bearings for damage, overheating, or wear?  How are the springs?    Have you considered swapping the axles?  Maybe find a tandem utility trailer with 3500 lb axles?   I'll keep an eye out for ya.

it did make it just fine, no damage.
front axle is bent, started out that way.
i talked with the manuf about replacing the axles with bigger axles (current ones are 3700 lb with 14" tires and that is the biggest ya can get with 5 lug) and i can get the axles made with disk brakes and actuator for about $1500, would also need new wheels and tires (15" with 6 lug), the springs are rated at at 2k each so that's good but the 8k trailer is constructed with 3x5 tubing and the one i have is 2x4.
so i could upgrade this trailer but it is still slightly small, just depends on what i can find.
again, just putting the word out in case anyone knows of something laying around.
