It's official! The seller has agreed to sell me the boat next week after they get the paperwork together and I get my financing together! We did a lot of looking around, and there were a number of very good cantidates.
As you know, Lisa and I set some parameters for what we were looking for, what we didn't want, and what we did... After a tremendous amount of great advice from fellow board members, this is what we landed on.
It's a 1986 CV-23 with Alpha 1 Gen one drive. It has the 5.7 powerplant, and a factory glastron dual axle trailer. The previous owner upgraded the origional drum brakes on the trailer to disk brakes which (believe it or not) are fully functional.
Upholstry is clean and in good condition. There are a few cosmetic blemishes, but 98% of them are the types of things that we can easily fix with new rolls of accent trim tape, teak oil, and 3M marine wax.
Take a look at the photobucket photo's and tell me what you think! I should have it in the driveway next week.

AWESOME!

SWEET !
Lisa has great taste in boats ...
-
At least it doesn't have cheese all over it. I think you'll love it. (love the colors)
-
Congrats looking goooood.
-
Great looking boat Brian and Lisa, congratulations. Love the contrast in those colors with the Red metalflake and white. Cool shelf under driver side dash for radio, I'm assuming previous owner built it?... looks stock like it's made for it.

Ya... It sure looked stock to me. Might be an add on, but it matches the rest of the woodwork on the boat, so if nothing else, it was well done.

Congrats!

Ehh ... I've seen better ... Heh heh
Nice find B&L. Looks like it's in great shape. Bet it'll be cool to have a lil cuddy cabin. Trailer sounds killer too.
I do have one question: If'n it's Lisa's boat, why do you need to get your financing together? Ha ha ha. Nevermind, forget I said that ...
Have fun!

Funny! Interesting thing about it is that we are cashing out an investment of Hers! That's why I'm calling it her boat! She's paying for it! :)

Cool! Got a name in mind?

Great choice Lisa!! I like it!! Looks very familiar, and Hot Knots has that same shelf. I was thinking it was added later, but is identical to that one.
-
Should provide years of enjoyment. Now you can head for the river Friday afternoon and get back late Sunday night. Colors and pattern of red, white, and blue in the upholstery look alot like mine. Sleep in it at the Red Wing Glastron meet. Congratulations.

Actually, we do!
She wants to call it "Prescription Therapy" And of course, in her creative way, it's going to look different. She is going to just have the word THERAPY on the back, and the base of the R will have the little x on it (the prescription symbol). Then, She's talking about designing a little pill bottle decal with the words "Take every 4-6 days until symptoms dissapear".
It's sort of a play on our tough last year, and how the boat can be a better prescription to cure most anything.

LOVE IT ...
Good choose !
-
Looks good guys, can't wait to see it.
-
Sweet boat Brian & Lisa! Beautiful colors and the 5.7/Alpha will move it along nicely.
Does it have a full canvas in back? Looks like it might. I think you said something about doing some overnighting with it.
Enjoy!
-
That is a beautiful boat congrats and may it give you many years of happiness

Boat looks awesome. Love the camper top and interesting that they didn't come off the top of the windshield in front. I suspect they did it that way to make it more functional. Very nice looking and what a plus that the previous owner spent the money to add it. Not a cheap thing to have done.
Brian - If you plan to overnight on it, which is a blast BTW, I would suggest adding some some ventilation. I added screens(very reasonably by modifying the original curtains) to the camper canvas on my 23' Larson Hampton cuddy. Feel free to call me if you want. I spent many nights on my Larson.

That is really neat. I'm jealous of that. I want one.

You could bring some old king sized sheets to Red Wing and we could trace out a template for you. Heck, everyone with a CV23 will probably want one! The fabric would still cost a small fortune, but I've heard you can save a good chunk of change by making one yourself.
Brian, do you think you'll bring her out on Sunday?

I would like to... I don't have a good pulling rig yet, so long drives are not that ideal for me. I pulled it from south minneapolis to wyoming, mn last night and the little bravada sorta grunted the whole way. I'm also trying to figure out some bildge water issues. I think that my cooling water is leaking into the bildge. I know that there is a fitting that is loose. Anyway, Have we decided where we are going yet? Has anyone thought of Forest Lake? I know it's not typical, but it's close to me for the towing, and it has 3 lakes to explore.
-
I'd be happy with Forest Lake. Never been, but that's my boat's home lake as the orig. owner and the guy I bought it from lived three blocks from the lake.
That would be fun!
-

Not exactly. Had they tried to pattern that fwd curtain from top of the windshield they'd be fightin so many compound angles they'd eventually get so frustrated they'd just go home and cry. Trust me ...
Lookin good B&L! Cool boat.

I don't think I'm gonna make Red Wing this year.
-
I'm sorry to hear that Barb. You will be missed!
-
Sweet looking boat. The only thing I'd add is some Bucky Badger stuff, it is the right color!! Too bad you're in the wrong state.
-
Sweet! Nice addition to the family. It looks good with the cover on it too. Cant always say that. Congrats on the boat and the new house. Another member up in the "north woods". Welcome. I think you're going to love being out of the city.
