The Flagship of the CGOAMN is changing...
« on: August 16, 2011, 10:35:21 PM »
Well, I posted a picture on facebook and realized that I should probably let the CGOAMN know what I'm doing rather than letting everyone guess...

I've purchased a new (old) boat!  I am the proud owner of a '76 V-195 (formerly owned by our friend and fellow club member Carl Thomas).  For those of you that remember, that was the boat that was in the first slip at last years meet.

What does this meet for the CVX-20 that I've been so in love with for 3 years?  Well, it's going to be going on the market for sale.  I'm thinking of waiting till spring to list it, but if there were any interested parties this fall, I would entertain offers.

The bottom line is that Lisa and I have decided that we want a boat that is more capable of supporting our potential family.  We are strongly considering foster children, and we would like a boat more suited for family activities rather than what the CVX-20 is suited for.

Thankfully, Carl has set that V-195 up with about 320 HP and it runs 55mph on GPS, so it's still a super fast boat for a 9 seater!  :)  Don't think I'm going to be slowing down any...

So, with all that said, the Silver Fox is going to eventually be going to a new home (hopefully in our club) and my new "Flagship" of the CGOAMN (if you all will allow my boat to have that title) will be this one...

Congrats Brian! Not gonna lie - I'm a huge fan of your CVX-20, but I remember that V-195 from last year and think it'll fit your needs better. Like Doran said, it's fast and sounds pretty mean too  8)

Which boat are you bringing to the meet?
My name is not "Carl"

Good to hear Brian! I love that V195 too. Would love a chance at your CVX20 but I know that is worth WAY more than my budget! Hope it goes to a good home.

Congratulations Brian and Lisa. The open bows sure gives alot more room, although I like the closed bow for looks. Brian, why not list the 20' jet boat on the Glastron forums and Craigslist and see what happens. Your boat seats 9, does that mean 7 foster children?

Since your boat is the "flagship" does that mean we have to call you admiral?

That is a nice boat and I remember it sounded pretty tough. Considering its conditon, you shouldn't have any trouble getting rid of your CVX20. Surprised though that your getting rid of it.

You'll miss the "Coolness" of the CVX,  But welcome the extra room of the open bow.
Speed wise it's a wash ... Bet ya don't use as much fuel ...
Will the "Flagship" be at Red Wing under the command of the "Admiral" ?

That is cool. I certainly follow your logic. That boat is SPACIOUS and fast. Very pratical for you guys.
What is Carl doing...getting out of boating or did he get something else? Maybe the CVX20 is more his speed? I recall it the V195 needed a floor. Did he do that or is that your winter project?

The floor still needs to be done.  I've done a little of that before, but I figured that a weekend with the guys could make it happen...  Much like a frost plug venture that you may remember recently!  :)

We can do the floor this fall or winter.

I have a warm spot to do it.

As far as the price for the Silver Fox...  I don't think that it's as far out of range as you might think.  I'm guessing that in the current market it's a fair price at about $6,500.  3 years ago, I would have said I could have sold it easily for 8k, but I just don't think that the money in in the economy right now.

I know that Auke is still looking for a cvx-20 jet.  I'm not sure if this is the one or not...  :)  Maybe...  :)

YES...  The CVX was finally put back together tonight at 8pm. Now it just needs a wash and wax, and we hit the road!

I remember that boat flying past me at last year's meet on the way down to Lake City.  I was impressed because it looked like it was skimming over the waves and wakes with no problem.
