a little help from the gearheads please...
« on: September 05, 2011, 04:07:44 PM »
okay, I want to use the oil filter relocator kit from my 350Mag (1989) on the 383 Stroker. there are different styles, and I'm not familiar with this one. I found the parts breakdown for it, but that didn't help. does anyone know how to remove the bottom cover so that I can remove the entire assembly? don't wanna break it just to find out how I should have done it!  ;D

the assembly can be seen here...

too new? I've never messed with one like this. I was hoping to figure it out so I can remove it from the cracked-block 350 so I can junk that and get it out of my way. it almost looks in the diagram like the cap (9) threads into the adapter (7) ?

I guess if no one here has removed one of these, I'll just swing by the local marina here, the parts guy is like a walking repair manual. I just don't want to destroy it trying to figure it out, and I don't wanna trash it with the block. after I have the 383 in the CSS-19, I'll look at how difficult it is to get to the filter in the stock location, if it's not too bad, I may not even use this, but I'd like to keep it.
