It's sounding great! What was the max on it? That boat should be going in the high 40's, maybe 50.

Top I got today was 37 at 5100RPM's. Running a 19' Alum prop. Can't remember what max RPM is.

Runs a little rough at idle and it took FOREVER to get it to start. Not sure if the enricher is working (i hear it clicking but not sure if it's injecting fuel). I had this problem to starting in the driveway but not as bad. I want to raise the motor up a hole or two on the transom too which should help. Definitely did not sound to be working hard at all. I think it's just a matter of fine tuning everything.

When starting those outboards you need to have the throttle advanced a bit, press and hold the choke/enrichener on while cranking. Once it starts back off on the throttle so it doesn't race out of control.

Sounds pretty healthy to me running on that cold water! Wish I could be one of the first ones in NE to hit the lake, but I don't think it will work quite as well as it did for you. I probably would end up making like the titanic and sinking.

Jason, you're nuts man! But we all knew you'd get out there the first chance you got!

We should blow that pic of your snowplow on the ramp up to poster size for next years boat show to emphasize how die-hard our club members are!

That is exactly what I was doing. Once it would start, I would keep the RPM's up a bit to "clear it out" then back down. Sometimes it would stall before I get the chance to back off the throttle. Otherwise, when cranking, It would pop once canceling the starter then I would have to start over again. Might just be the cold. We'll see.

The extremes some people will go to avoid paying the boat launching fee! Nice run Jason. Bet the Star Tribune would have been there with a reporter if told before hand it was going to happen. Your max RPM is 5,250 RPM I believe. Greg, Jason's prop needs a larger hub than yours.

I might have been the last boating last year with the October 29 run on the Mississippi. Lets see, we can boat in Minnesota 9 out of 12 months. All except Nov, Dec, and Jan -- do you hear that Doug Campbell?

Shouldn't that boat be much faster than 37 mph with a 150 HP pushing it?

I could get 42 Mph on that old Bayliner of mine, with an 85 HP Force!!!

I am using the pickup in the lower unit. I agree it should do 50. There is more work to be done!

Agree! It would be even better w/snowmobile sitting in the bed of the PU. It's been a warm winter in MN this year that's for sure.

I'll double check it to my timing light but I think I got it set up right.

The V6 deffinetly has a deeper bark then the old inline 6. I much lower, more muffled, pleasant sound. I like it!

Out west we don't get the Midwest ice, but we do get debris!  May is terrible as the weather starts to turn nice, but the river is full of flotsam in the spring run off.  Early June is pushing it.  Late June is usually okay, just keep a watch out for crap in the water.
