Gregg, i think your boat is sitting too low. you should try to get the winch roller right up by the bow hook. It may bounce going down the road. May need to raise your bunks a couple inches if the winch tower will not go any lower.

Gregg, First get rid of that roller on the front. You don't want it rolling up there. Second you have to pull it into a V-Block. It is the front stop. A fast stop or if you hit something your boat will be in your back seat. Look at David's. Make it look like his. Whatever you have to move or weld or replace, just not like it is.

Ross, good point on having the winch strap come from the bottom of the spool instead of the top. That will help. Or I might try moving the strap roller to one of the lower settings

Gregg can you adjust the the winch stand so that the bow roller sits a little higher than the winch. That's part of the issue. Notice how David's is set up. Both my boats sit with the bow roller tight against bow eye. And like Jerry pointed out, that keeps the boat from moving forward in a panic stop.

I think your gonna have to modify the winch stand to get it to fit. Looks like you already got the winch as low as it will go and it doesn't look in the pictures like you have any adjustment on the bunk height.

I don't think he can come from the bottom of the spool...looks like it'll rub on a bolt at the base there.

Why can't he just move the strap roller down to one of the 2 open bolt holes and have the winch strap come from down 'under' up to the winch?

I think the entire winch assembly is too far forward and needs to be moved rearward a good 6".

Mount the winch vertically on the stand, and get rid of that roller.

Can you turn the bow roller bracket upside down'n have the bolt come through the bottom hole? Seems to me that'd lower the roller a couple inches & get you a lil closer to the bow eye.

Fwiw I had a V-stop on mine'n hated it, always wanted to flip fwd on me. Much happier with the lil roller.

Mount the winch vertically on the stand
Under the horizontal arm that holds the roller. I like that idea. And lower the roller/stop to the bottom hole.

Looks great..

I had the same problems, ended up raising the front bunks 3" it will bounce now if you don't get it under the bow cleat.  Roller is no issue in my opinion...my motor trimmed all the way down will hit the ground, just have to be carefull loading...but they are so much easier to get in and out when on the trailer...

The bunkers should have a slot in the front and back supports to adjust both to different heights. Believe alot of boats actually have the bow higher on the trailer than the stern.

My boat sits 'up hill' if you will on the trailer.

I also have a V-block on mine...hate it and will soon be going to a roller stop up there.

Gregg, if you need any metal fabrication or welding, let me know, as the shop at work would be able to help.

Turned around stand and got closer but still not up against eye (about 3 inches).
Can't tip bunk until boat is off trailer, might (HOPE) give me another few inches closer to eye ....

Thanks Dave ..
Maybe a plate to lower/extend roller ?

Some kind of an extension downward so that winch web is below the boat eye. Should be an easy fix with flat bars, retangular tubing, or channels that reroutes the web. Extra rollers you may be able to buy from 61. Our shop is very creative and has done marine projects. Bring the boat in some afternoon.

Another thought is to build up a support from the trailer frame for a pin that goes through the boat eye and secures it in that exact position.
