Local boys Barb ...

Think Wex might be "Nipping at your heals" ...
s

Yea Greg,  Wex will be able to chomp off mine and Jeff's whole foot.  He's got a lot of power in that little boat.  Kinda scary to think about it.

Wanna race?

Had a chance to test the new Mercury 150 and the challenger was out stretching its legs as well

Had a little set back. Looks like the driveshaft is .350 too long. The lower unit has to come apart again and the shaft cut again. Jerry S is coming over Monday after work with a lower off a stock shorty to match up. Just to make things worse my Grandson decided to lift himself out of the drivers seat by using the windshield and cracked it. I had to take the T/T pump out to try and get the hoses hooked up. It must be nice to just buy a boat and buff it out and play with it. I'm running out of time.

Ah, where's the fun and adventure in that?

And tell the truth Jerry, even if you did buy a "turn-key" boat you'd still find something to trick out, modify, or make extreame!

T/T all hooked up and working!!!
I hope the Upholsterer is coming tomorrow to do the dash, I'm waiting for the "Artist" to tell me when he's coming, if the lower unit was good I'd be almost done.
Not to leave Tonka Jim out of his thread, he will be happy to know his favorite baked beans will be back at Red Wing Saturday Night.

I thought my CVX-16 was in good condition when I bought it. It was and it was not. I wonder how many man hours it took to go over the whole boat to get things right. This had better be my last boat.

HARD TO FIND BOATS FROM THE 70'S OR 80'S THAT DON'T NEED ALOT OF WORK............BOTH THE CARLSON AND THE MISSLE HAVE NEW TRANSOMS, CORES, UPHOLSTERY AND PAINT.............WISH I COULD FIND SOME THAT ALL THEY NEEDED WAS A BUFFING

I guess that's the difference between "Real Boats" and those cookie-cutters they make now.

Best thing we can do I reckon is to keep em lookin & runnin halfway decent. And spread the Glastron/Carlson word. Who knows, mebbe my $600 Carlson'll be worth $1600 some day?

Seriously. I do believe a time will come when these things gain some retro value, as they should. See how we got retro Mustangs'n Chargers'n Challengers and now even Camaros bumping into each other all over town? Patience

I agree if it wasn't for a group like us, all these beauties would be in the scrap heap instead of cruising the lakes and rivers 30, 40, to 50 ect years after they were built.

With a full fuel tank and your crew ... you might need a 17P.
