Wanna Race?
« on: April 28, 2013, 08:10:34 PM »
My neighbor Tim (the one with the houseboat at Red Wing) stopped over today with his new boat. It belonged to a friend of his that passed away, and he bought it from the family. All wodd 3-point hydro with a 302 SBC. This is basically the same motor I had in my C/Gas Dragster. It's been stored for the last 30 years. he said it was clocked at 149MPH. He has a little work to do. No fiberglass to grind.

It takes a crane to put it in the water, but I know he plans on running it at Red Wing.

Looks like you need a runway, not a waterway. It looks scary fast sitting still. Thanks for sharing.

Who built the hull?  Looks like an old Ron Jones boat...?  What is the history of it?

Very cool especially being wood. I'm trying to figure where you sit in there. Do you straddle the drive shaft with the headers in your face?
Maybe there's a cubby hole in front of the motor?

and yes you do sit with prop shaft between your legs
it is coupled directly to the crank and runs between 8000 and 9000 rpms

What is the best choice for groin protection? Carbon fiber to reduce weight or steel plate to keep the shrapnel away from the 3 musketeers?
