We were out and about yesterday and in the neighborhood of Tim's Marine so I decided to stop in there for once and look around. Joe, you'd love this place. Many many outboards, parts etc not to mention all the boats. From the road, I had no idea as to how many he had. When we showed up Tim was working on a motor with two other characters and swearing up a storm. Asked if we could look around and nodded. Later when he was there alone we ended up striking up a conversation with Tim and he's not as crabby as first thought. Part of it is that his hearing isnt so good, so if he doesnt respond, its not necessarily because he is unfriendly. He started pointing out boats that were "his" and supposedly water ready and had some stories. I got a glimpse of a Hydrostream that I thought had been cut up but Tim said this was a factory bass boat?
Don, ever seen anything like this? He says its based on a Viper hull which is certainly looks like and he apparently uses this one? Who knows when the last time that was.
I guess he has customer boats there too and still does some repair. His old shop that burned down in 95 is still standing and I bet not much different then the day it burned. Says he's been there since 85
I went there in search of a replacement spot light with remote cable I need for the 175 and found at least 4 of them however most of the boats are nasty to crawl into and I had shorts on, not to mention poison ivy and wasps so when I go back, I'll dress for it, bring tools and wasp spray. You never know what's lurking under the bows of these things.
I was hoping to maybe pick up a couple of lights so I had spare parts and could make one nice one out of 2 or 3 but he said "those are not 20-30 dollar items. Think its because someone wants them?
He has a fortune in parts there but doesn't know everything he has or as to its condition. Too bad he doesn't have it cataloged.
Another interesting thing we saw was this outboard with a jet conversion on it.
Joni saw a rat run across the area too. Nice. Tim said if he saw it again he would get his shot gun out.
It was fun to look around and I saw some in there I'd like to rescue but I am sure it all of the sudden would be worth a lot. It was an newer style Larson speed boat that had a slight CV look to it. I believe there was one on our GOTD list at one point. Looked pretty complete. Did not take enough pictures. Think I'll be heading up again next friday.
I saw a Hammond in his collection as well. Pretty tough shape.
