Mom likes to have a big Thanksgiving dinner early at her place. Got there around 1. Ate with Mom's "paramour" Bob, my bro & his wife & my neice.

What's for dinner? Well the appetizers were shrimp cocktail & cheese spread with crackers. Main course consisted of turkey, pot roast, corn, cauliflower, mashed potatos, sweet potatos, stuffing, cranberry sauce, apple sauce, cottage cheese, jello w/marshmalows, and punkin or cinnamon bread. Desert was punkin pie w/whip cream and/or double fudge brownies w/ice cream. Urrp!

I'm tellin ya I was in agony for the next four hours or so. I've never felt so bloated! Thankfully I was able to flush it down with copious amounts of Bweiser afterward ...

Hope y'all had a good one.

Any leftovers Doug? Would be worth the price of a round trip ticket to Florida. I'll bring some props we can test.

Our daughter Abbey was home from school and we had an early feast.  We have two more, Amy and Cameron, to get home by Christmas… keeping our fingers crossed, as we’re not sure about Cam, he is still in Afghanistan!

Well, instead of taking our usual walk after dinner, I somehow convinced the Mrs. and Abbey to help avoid the food coma by taking a ride in the GT150 instead.  It was a little chilly, especially for us Texans  ;D, but a beautiful day nonetheless.

Mark,

I'm jealous.    I think I just ate way too much and laid on the couch and watched the Cowboys.    That dude scoots with that 85HP.   What's the top end with that motor?

I wish!  It'd be great to have the boats out, still.
We took a walk, too … to the lake.  Frozen, shore-to-shore.  Uncle Dave thought he could hurl a big rock shot-put style and break through the ice.  THUNK!  It just embedded like a knife stab - didn't go all the way through, but didn't bounce, either.  For some reason we laughed and laughed.

I hope you get Cameron home by Christmas.  We did Thanksgiving twice.  My wife's brother shipped out for Djibouti on Thanksgiving day, so we had to celebrate with him early.  He won't be home for Christmas, so we crammed Christmas in, too and brought gifts for him to open before he left.

Thanks Don, can't wait to see the pics of your new paint job on the GT160!  Couple more days?!

Last summer with the 21 pitch cupped 2-blade bronze I got from David, with just me in the boat, light, and I think 2 or 3 pins up on motor, I was hitting 50mph on GPS... I couldn't believe it.  I think normally, with that prop without pushing the motor, it's in the mid to upper 40s, like 45-47.  I'm running a different prop now, my backup, it's a SOLAS 21 pitch 4-blade, smaller diameter?, ... thought maybe it would give me a little more low end power without sacrificing too much upper end speed.  This is the one I ran on Thanksgiving... guessing it's doing around 40, especially with 3 of us in the boat... definitely not the sprinter that 2-blade bronze is.

I understand!  Thanks Dan... we wish you and their family all the best. Really nice that you crammed an early Christmas in there for him... I'm sure he appreciates it and will remember that, make a difference, throughout the next few months.

Mark, glad the 21" Quicksilver 2-blade bronze worked out well for you. Started buffing out my OMC 13 3/4"  x  21" bronze 2-blade last night and still have some work to do on it. Hope it also is my fastest prop.

The deciding factor will be if my CVX-16 needs alot of bow lift to make the boat faster, reducing the wetted area. If the CVX-16 needs bow lift, and I suspect it does, then the Racker and SRX props are the fastest, as I can feel the bow lift and the boat get light with these props.

If the OMC 2-blade bronze can provide some bow lift, then it may be just as fast.

The Racker and and SRX props both have alot of rake that provide lift.

We will wait and see. Been surprised before.

Your GT150 and my V-153 did not need bow lift, all the energy from the 2-blade bronze prop was directed backwards and none was used to lift the bow, hence the fast speed, coupled with only 2 thin blades.

If the OMC does not work, it may be an excellent prop for a GT150 with a 70, 75, 85, or 115 HP Johnson or Evinrude.

AWESOME mph numbers !
I remember at Red Wing you where getting some pretty good numbers also.

Often wondered what a 90 HP Yamaha would do on the GT ?
Few pounds more then a three cylinder JohnsRude  ...
Able to lift it up on the transom and T & T !

But with MPH numbers like yours ...  Why change !

Thanks Gregg!  You know, the more I think about it... it may have been 49 vs 50... that was last summer, and like fishing stories, you know how that goes with time :)  But it was right there, I know it was at least 49 with that prop.  But I am happy with that number with that engine.  The 90 Yamaha definitely would be a nice matchup with the GT150.

It'll be interesting to see, but I got my doubts that 2 blade'll be a top performer. Not that it ain't purty ...

Just don't look to me like it's got enough blade area? Jmo & I hope you prove me wrong.

Funny how different "similar" hulls can be pertaining to bow lift. For example the V153 loved to fly the bow, couldn't get enough trim. The 15 Baja is just the opposite, she says no thank you early on. I'd imagine a boat with a pad, a la CVX16 wouldn't need a really high bow lifting prop?

Letcha know when I get the C500 back in the water ...  Heh heh heh [Sigh ...]

Doug, regarding the blade area on a 2-blade prop, I do not believe blade area is the deciding factor in top speed. Many of the old racing props were two blades with very small area.

On my Glastron V-153, I tried an alum Black Mac 21, a Laser 20 and Laser 22, a Ballistic 19 and Ballistic 21, a Michigan Rapture 21, and a Quicksilver QSS 21.

The Quicksilver 2-blade bronze 21" was faster than the next fastest prop by 2 MPH.

I bet the 2-blade bronze was designed by the Mercury test engineers around the in-line Mercurys, that need higher RPMs and do not have alot of torque.

You look good in the Jeep. I think you should keep it for yourself. Although the floorboards seem to be rotted out, your knees are sticking through. :D

Neat pictures Don. Is that a picture of Bev's Hydrostream. Maybe she will give you that if you give the Jeep to the kids.

I have outgrown my scooter. Trade it for your Jeep.

I'll stick to the Trophy 4. I think the 2 blade works great if you're going to spin it at 8 grand like the race motors, not that good at 5 grand with the motor raised. It blows out at take-off and turns. Just my thoughts. we'll see.
