Thats me in the Jeep, my brother from L.A. in the boats. The bottom photo is a 1972 Checkmate MX15 with a 2.0 Liter Mercury....very light hull and real enthusiastic to drive, he is the only one crazy enough to push it. Used to run that one with a v4..... Two weeks every summer he comes up to break my stuff on Minnesota Lake X. LOL

Dave wanted to make sure Mark's prop was in good working order before sending it to him, so we gave it a test run on WBL.
Can't remember exact MPH number, but it was in the ball park of other props we've tested.
RPM's were to high ... I remember that ...

Tested his Hi Performance 2 blade, but it spun the hub.
If he still has it next spring we'll give it another shot !

Don ....
Every one at work got a laugh out of that picture ...

If there were a non-Glastron calendar, this picture would be on one of the months - or on all of the months.

Have the Jeep hooked up to a Glastron, any Glastron, on a trailer, and if would make the Glastron calendar.

I vote that when we do the next calendar, there should be an inset picture in a bottom corner that is the person who owns the boat in the big picture … that way we can use pictures like this …

I do not think that Checkmate splashed Baja or vice versa but they certainly look similar..........They are fun with a v4 but you may want to go to a v6, they can build more speed than most people think. The attached article from 1979 was the model for the one I have, mine is not that fast but set up correctly they can compete with Hydrostreams and a lot of other go fast stuff out there. Do you know the weight on your Baja? Mine came in under 500 after hull work and transom stiffening.

Not to imply vice or versa, but Bucyrus was a friendly place. And Chekmate & Baja lived right down the road from each other ...

I've had opportunity to look at both brands comparable models. The resemblence is more than just similar during that era.

Not that I really give a crap anyway, just sayin.
