Cain't member if they were V8s or not. Sadly I don't have that movie in my Bond collection, yet.

It's a weed whacker with a prop on the end...essentially.  The engine is the pivot point.

I thought that was what all outboards were called.

There was a short scene with Scimitar in golden gun.  The main chase was in Live and Let Die, they had CV's with V8s, and outboards.   An outboard CV jumped the police car over the road.  Bond initially stole an outboard CV to escape from the Alligator farm, was chased by a mob of boats, but the main crook pistol whipped billy bob, took billy bobs hopped up cv with a V8, nearly caught him.  When he made it to the dock, Felix from the cia picked him up and and explained to the sheriff that he was a secret agent, sheriff famous drawled line, "on who's side?"

Yup. Sheriff JW Pepper was in the Javelin when Bond stole it from the showroom. He wound up in the back seat after the loop de loop. Just before the jump the Sheriff says, "Yer not gonna ..." Bond answers, "I shore am boy."

Yeah, what Red means is...not possible.  Scimitar's came out in 1980...'Man with the Golden Gun' was shot in 1973, released in 1974...

Just to be sure, it was a Roger Moore Bond, in the intro.  He had morters shooting from the back of the Scimitar.  I am not 100% sure it was intro to Man w/Golden Gun.  Might have been into to "your eyes only" remake.

Still, best boat sequence was from

That's what I'm talking about.  They are used in that part of the world as they can take what's basically an automotive engine, and use it to propel watercraft.  In theory a pretty simple idea and probably cheaper as their engines are not necessarily "marine" specific.

I think in the last Rambo movie, Stallone is actually running one of these long tails.

One of my friends honeymooned in Thailand a few years ago and one of the big tourist long tail boats he was one, was powered by a big inline diesel long tail and it moved out pretty good I'm told.

Correct. And Bond's "Live And Let Die" jump boat was a GT 150 w/135 Starflite, not a CV. He stole the CV 19 after JW shot a hole in the Starflite during the jump.

Perhaps we can split this hijacked thread off to a fresh topic.  Seems I need to go to school on the Bond Glastron connection.  And, I don't even know the differences between a Scimitar and a CV23HT ( hard top i guess).  I am certain that you have already taught this class in previous threads, perhaps someone can reference an old thread with the remedial class materials, for us new members.

It's okay. Joe doesn't mind us hi-jacking his thread. He does it sometimes ...

Yes. You need to brush up on yer Bond Glastron/Carlson "connection".

Some of us are really nitpicky 'bout that ...
