No reason not to wind that thing up a lil. What is the recommended red line? Racing Chryslers routinely ran over 7K. Not suggesting you should rush out and try that. But there is room for improvement. With 2 strokes RPM = HP.

I ran the 90 hp crossflow on the V153 relentlessly for about 6 years. Up to 6200 rpm or so on occasion. Sadly the head gasket eventually failed due to water jacket erosion as a result of weekly salt water use. Otherwise it'd still be runnin. When I pulled that motor apart the pistons & bores still looked like new.

Cool video but I couldn't hear the motor ...  Looks like you need a bigger lake?

Not a problem, I like old cars.  I've had this car since I was 16.  Those little light buggers like the Gremlin, or even a Chevelle could take me off the line , but by quarter mile I was running past them.  And nothing could touch me on the top end, nothing.  Just don't ask me to stop fast.  Ya I'm lucky to be alive and I know it.

Awesome!!! and with a Hemi:) They were called the “Red Ram,” “Firedome,” and “Firepower,” depending on brand; horsepower peaked in 1958 with a dual four barrel version of the 392 rated at 390 hp. Today, these motors are difficult to find, and those which aren't in restored vehicles are most often found in fuel dragsters and funny cars, running on alcohol....still have that Hemi?

OldfishGuy,  where were your videos taken?

Sorry for the delay on the response; I will get back to a few here now.

The videos were shot on a little 50 acre lake just west of Clearwater, MN.  There are two of these lakes connected with a channel, I have lived on these lakes for the last 22 years (Long and Crooked Lakes in western Stearns County.  I'm cruising around the edges of the lake in a complete circle in both videos.  Yup, pretty small bodies of water.

You're one of the rare few that had something nice when younger and kept it?

Yup, kept it through the years.

Was in barn storage for 19 years till I pulled it out (1999) and I started going through it.  In all honesty, if I had known what effort it was going to take I would have let it go.  But a person starts picking at it and before you know it you're up to your neck.  (I think we are all familiar with that concept.)

The engine was pulled and overhauled,  The interior was gutted and replaced with factory original reproduction materials.  Wire harness replaced.  Suspension system updated.  Guage package added.  Paint.  Factory tach added. etc. . . I tried to keep it as original as possible, the shifter is a Hurst though and not factory.

I probably put 500 miles a year on it now.  This year I put a new headliner in and next year I plan to go through the brakes.  As we all know we are never done with restoration projects, for they are all simply, "works in progress".   I would rate it a "3" on a scale of 1 -5, 5 being the best.
