The "v" tail Bonanza was a fast plane, but kinda "fishy"
they were a solid plane, and fun to fly because they were fast. My first solo was in a J-3 with heal brakes .. I seen you grin
I loved my Commander, GO-480's with three blade Hartsel's, sounded like a B-25
with the augmenter tubes right by the cabin windows, but DANG ! the better it sounded the more it cost to fly it, it would true out @ 3000 rpm, 30 inches manifold pressure, almost 200mph. The best part of almost every trip to a private strip was making a 240mph low pass and pulling that baby up like a homesick angle ... takes me back
I got lots of hours in a 172, a few in a 150, 152 areobat, about 10 in a citabria, areobatic's, that one had the 115 with inverted fuel and oil, it was fun, but kinda weak, I think my favorite was the N3N with the 1340 Prat, .. PowerHouse. we lost it on a private airstrip w/240 gallons 2-45-T early one morning, just enough to finish up a job and get paid, finished the job with my J-3 .. just took a little longer, that baby would go strait up, 125 Lyc and about 250ft take-off with just me in it, no chemical ... OK back to boating
