2011 Boat Show
« on: December 27, 2010, 07:13:51 PM »
Greetings everyone...

It looks as if (as a club) we are not going to be participating in this years Minneapolis Boat Show.  There is a chance that our event planner will be interested in having us at the March Sportsmans Show.

None the less, the event planner loves our club, and would like to work with us in the future.  As a gesture of good faith, she has sent us 50 FREE TICKETS to this years Minneapolis Boat Show, January 20th-23rd.  I would like to offer these tickets to the club on a first come first serve basis.

All you need to do is send me an e-mail to cgoamn@yahoo.com with the number of tickets that you would like to request.  Please contact me asap so I can get these in the mail.

Happy New Year!

Brian

Ok everyone...  8 tickets are spoken for, but that leaves quite a few left.  Don't be afraid to ask for a few...  I hear that they are going to have some classic wooden boats on display as well.  The Power Squadron is going to have a booth as well.

Let me know if you would like some tickets!

Sorry to hear that the club won't be at the show!  Glad to see that Retro Perf. will have a a classic Glastron there.  Shipwreck Boat Works will also be displaying a restored CV16SS, in LIME SQUEEZER GREEN flake.  If you need boats to display I'm sure I could come up with a couple newly restored Glastrons for the show.  More boats the better!

Hey....Thanks for the welcome!
Yea, we're Shipwreck Boat Works.  I'll post some  pics of that latest Glastron CV16SS we're finishing up.  It needed structurally rebuilt & then an extreme make over from blue to the lime Squeezer Green monster flake.  We rebuilt the interior back to original but all the seat structure is out of plastic that will never rot!  We restore a lot of Glastrons and seldom get time to work on our own.  Currently, I have 2 '64 Jetflite 143, a '68 143 SS and a '76 CV16SS.  My son Ryan hopes to have his CV16SS restored & ready for the water this summer.  I'll have my '68 143SS ready, if all goes well.  Look forward to see everyone on the water!

"  Look forward to see everyone on the water! "

Last year we started doing more runs on the Mississippi between St.Paul & Hasting and on the Mn. river.
Less traffic and less monster wakes from yachts.
Mark your calendar for the BIG Red Wing meet ... Ya don't want to miss that one ... It G/C heaven !

Welcome Scott!

I know you guys re-did the Donzi for the "Bling Your Boat"  contest a few years back. Can't remember if you did the SeaRay that was coverted from a closed to an open bow the year before. Too bad they only did that for 2 years, it was one of the better attractions at the boat show.

Let's see come pictures of that CV with the "Lime Squeezer Green" metalflake!

Here is an update on project Challenger, like most of my stuff it is not a restoration(more like street rods for the water) at the back there are two "lift pads" hopefully these will free up the rear and allow some air to escape from the underside. Never tryed this before, any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

Darren Allison used a trick at the end of his hulls, a small bump or down curve that was supposed to add miles per hour to the speed.

My flat bottom 11' racing runabout had a lapped bottom with one board about 1/2" lower than the other to form a small pad, but do not know if it was speed effective or just a way to build the boat stronger.

any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

Those little tab's, in my opinion, do two things, they give the reat of the smaller boats a little lift to the hull with a heavier motor hung on the transom, and the actually do help prevent porpusing, they had been added to the Yellow Jacket I'm working on also, it had a 70 hp six cylinder on it.
