WTB: Teak Strips for CVX-16 SS
« on: September 20, 2019, 03:18:30 PM »
Hi Im looking for a set of teak strips for a 79 CVX-16 SS. The 3 strips on each side for boarding the craft from the stern.

OR maybe someone has dimensions for them so I could make my own?

Thanks in advance for any info or leads.

Are your present teak strips removed?  If so, is there a difference in the metal flake shading so that you can use the shading as a template.

I have a CVX-16, but do not know if the dimensions are the same.

Let me know if you need measurements.

On the Classic Glastron Owners Facebook group one of the guys gave me decent measurements from an outboard model. I went ahead and used those and made a template from the back of the boat using where I could see the outlines of the slats, for a template. Friend of mine has some scandanavian teak and is going to make me a brand new set.

I'm thinking I will rivet them on unless others say different. I've seen screws and rivets. I do have one hole that looks like it was drilled twice thought.

Personally, I'd opt for the synthetic mats like Shawn used.  No maintenance, and look great for years.

I would think there would be less chance of cracking wood if counter sunk and screwed.

You got pictures of those??

Is this what you’re asking about?  These were on my SSV-191 deck boat that I sold.

Yeah but on the CVX-16 SS hull a couple things are different it seems. The ends are cut at an angle with the body lines and they are held in with 4 screws each.

Would anyone know what screws I would use and if I would put nuts on the back or just screw into the fiberglass?

This is what the holes in my hull look like now.

Ended up making them. I have the templates we used if anyone can use them to make theirs.
