A friend of mine, his wife and kids, me, Jessica and the kids are planning on camping this weekend on the river. Thinking down by Redwing in the cove. It is just north of the lock and dam. There is a launch at Maiden Rock in WS. Probably cruise around on the river a little as well. Let me know if anyone else will be out.
Where do I find the info about river height, no wake restrictions and water temp?

Sat was overcast until about 7 then the sun came out and it was very nice. We went to Treasure Island for the BBQ contest and they had a chili and wild rice cook off. We all got pretty full eating chili then came back and had a fire and relaxed. Joe & Lorie went up river in the boat but my Gimbal bearing was making noise so I did not head up with them. Sunday was beautiful and we stayed until about 3 pm it was so nice. I maybe should have put more sun screen on I am a little red.

So, I'm curious, how does the camping work exactly? No bathrooms right? And its not a park or anything either is it? Just pull up, set up camp?

yes no park just an Island in the middle of the river. Just show up and claim a spot. It is nice because you can pull in the cove and are protected from the big waves in the river. There are no bathrooms, power or anything else. There is a bar on the WI side of the river only about a half mile away. There will be many more camping days there this summer for us.

Yes stay on the WS side of the Island
Jason what do you have for an engine hoist? I will need to figure out some way to get the engine out of that boat if I get it tonight. It is pretty tall so regular engine hoist will not work. Thinking that I will need an overhead hoist in order to lift it up and out of the boat.
I think I am getting Jeff's alignment tool tonight from him.

Two options:
If the top of the back of your boat is less than 5' off the ground my regular picker will do the job. If your going to junk the boat, a sawzall to the transom will make it easier!
Otherwise I have Jim's electric overhead in my garage that has lifted a 460! Bring your boat here or you are welcome to bring the overhead hoist to your place too.

I have a air hoist you can hang in your garage if you need.

One more thing to keep in mind. The highest I can get the hook on the hoist in the garage is 7'. So We would still need 5' of clearance under the motor to get it over the transom...if that makes sense.

Joe that may be the way to go. The trailer is too wide to fit in my garage and the 23 is in there.
Jason I will measure it and see otherwise I think the skid steer may be the way to go. I am planning on messing around with it tonight and changing the gimbal bearing in the 18
