Title: Am I a nice guy or what
Post by: V153 on February 13, 2011, 08:42:53 PM
Dunno if you remember but awhile back my neighbor Bruce was trying to sell me a HydroStream Vector. Cheap. I wasn't finished with the V153 at the time so I turned a buddy of mine's son onto the project. He's finally got her all recored, painted, etc. Still a lil finish work to do but it floats. Went 85.6 mph gps in the ditch today. Thankfully I was not onboard. Probly would've soiled my britches ...

Nice boat.  Looks like a 200 HP Merc with a jackplate. That really is a fast speed for a 200 HP Merc.

isn't the Intracoastal a "no Wake Zone"?

Bet then rich SOB's love some kid flying past their house at almost 90.

Those are quick and very light hulls.  That 200 Merc is doing exactly what it should.  If I'd seen that set up I'd figured 75 - 80 mph easily.  Depends on the hull. I have several friends with bass boats (water rockets more like it) that fly.  My father-n-law has a 18' 6" Sprint bass boat, dual console, etc. He's running a Yamaha 175 with a jack plate and we have run it at 74 gps a few times outrunning storms. That's not a light boat.

Quite a few BB down here in south Louisiana that are capable of 80 to 100 mph with either a  200 - 225 hanging on the back. I know of an Allison craft bass boat that has a 225 merc and he's been radar checked and gps at 101.

See if he'll let ya use the Merc for an afternoon ...
Ya should top 70 mph plus and have the fastest V-153 on earth.
If ya live through it ...
LOL

Ironicly Jerry with the exception of two draw bridge zones, the IC between Venice & Englewood at least is not "no wake". Yet ... [Shhhh!!!] The property still belongs to the corps of engineers. I believe they own some 500ft from the center of the channel to either side. But it could be more in certain areas. It's a very serendiptitious thing for us boaters btw because the houses that are there are set so far back you can't hardly see em. And chances are slim to none they'll ever build anything between them & the water. WooHoo!

I dunno Gregg. I'm pretty confident the transom, stringers, floor could handle it. But I'm afraid the rest of the boat would reach terminal velocity & disintegrate ...

Yup and that's just the second time he's had it out. That hull could've been mine for about $200 bucks [Sobbing ...] Oh well we managed to keep her in the family so to speak. Plus Ryan'n his Dad got to spend some quality time restoring her.

It was too funny yesterday. When he held the GPS up for me to see his hands were shaking so much from the Adrenaline rush I could barely read the screen. Yes!!! Another one hooked on adrenaline! Heh heh heh

I'm s'posed to get a ride Sunday. Please say a lil prayer for me ...

Oh hey before I fergit guess who's inheriting the old electric jack plate that came off the hull. Hee hee hee  WooHoo!

Here is a link to Allison owners, who tell their model of Allison, motor, prop, motor height, speed and RPM's. They all are addicted and love their Allisons.

http://www.bassboatcentral.com/allison.htm

Jerry Sellner's Allison with a 150 HP Mercury holds the world record in that class at 86+ MPH

Yikes! That a little fast in that small of a boat for me. Must be getting old. What holds the front down Doug? Maybe you?  :o
