Title: Glastron Carlson Contender with Mercury 1500 XS Video
Post by: David CVX-16 on May 04, 2011, 11:05:26 AM
Conrad, who posts on the Mercury Outpost, has a Mercury outboard motor collection and also a propeller collection. Lives in Iowa. This video records his 70 MPH trip in a Glastron Carlson Contender powered by a Mercury 1500 XS turning a cleaver 26" propeller. Video camera is mounted on the top of the Mercury.

UPDATE on Conrad's "Quest for Speed
Quote
End of the year report 1500/contender

Well I ran the 1500 today with my new from the shop 28 cleaver.

75.5 mph is my new top speed. Funny thing is , the boat still had more in it. I did not have it pinned at WOT. I think there was around 2-300 more RPM left in it but I was kinda chicken in the 32 degree water we have here right now.

Conrad is the type of guy that is alway experimenting with new ways to go faster - props, engine height, and water pickup for outboard at raised height. He posts on the Mercury Outpost and has a collection of in-line power heads, lower units, and props to put some combination together in the quest for speed.
