Title: Said goodbye to Goldie
Post by: dorelse on July 09, 2015, 09:37:18 AM
I've told a few folks this, but Goldie sold this week to a very nice mother & daughter from Omaha, NE.  They're upgrading from a '58 Lonestar with a 35HP OB on the back and are excited to have 200+ HP for skiing / tubing, etc.

I'll be on the lookout for a better example of a hull, what hull exactly, remains to be seen...Metric 537, CVZ-18, CVX-18, not sure at the moment.  Likely a CVZ-18 in better condition, but we'll see.  With the 'barge' around, I have more options as to what I can purchase.

I have always really liked this CVX-18, but have only ever seen 1 like this...so we'll see!

Coming into the best part of the season to find good deals on boats.  Somewhat sad to see Goldie go down the road, been around awhile.  So will the barge-liner be making an appearance at TI?

No, right now I don't trust that to move me 10 feet downstream...I'll be hitching rides and waiting for the right boat to come my way.  I have to say, I really don't like towing such a big boat, so I'm on the fence about keeping it.

A Metric 537 w/a sbc stuffed in it might be interesting...and with the barge as the family boat, I can be a little more selective.

I liked that Champagne / Cream Metric that was on CL in St. Cloud, but that appears to be gone.

No such thing, but a hull that's in better shape would be a good start...upholstery, etc...you know...the little things!

That's great that you were able to sell her. Sad but from the picture I thought she was a great looking CVX18.

Right. With the barge being the family boat, you can get a rocket now, although The CVZ was no slouch.
Dan (Bar fly) Stanton's metric is for sale as I am sure you are aware of. The mint green one. 140 i/o however.

Yep, I did see that...if I remember, its a Metric 512 (140HP), vs. the 537 with the 190HP/170HP 3.7L...

Nope!  I'm not in any hurry yet...going to wait for the fall price drops, and an original beauty.  Leaning towards another CVZ-18, but time will tell.

How about a real nice CV19ss with a freshly rebuilt jet and 455 Olds with enough horsepower to satisfy those sudden urges for more than a little speed.
