CV23 Thru Hull Exhaust
« on: April 26, 2014, 08:38:18 PM »
Think this will work?

I am planning on putting the Corsa Mufflers on the CV23. I know they have a 4" hose connection. Looking at my exhaust, I am thinking I will find another pair of those 3" x 4" elbows, flip them over and they should line up well with a spot in the transom to put the Corsa's. I really don't understand why it's 3" out of riser, 4" into elbow, then back down to 3".

Not quite sure if the elbows will work.  I think the angle on the bottem is different than the top.

Are you sure you don't want the 23 quiet?

Put the tips so they are below the water line at idle then it's not so load when you are in a no wake or at a dock. I just had the s pipe made for the 18.  If I did it again I would just buy 4 mandrel bent elbows and weld them together myself to make it then you can make what ever size you need.

Barb,

What did you use here? This does not look like the "S" pipe used on Jeff's boat. Looks more like you used the V6 elbows that go from 4" round to oval.

That is correct Jason.  We used two 4 inch elbows on each one, turned them opposite of each other and then used the rubber boots to hold them together.  If I remember one of Reds friends gave us the elbows and then I have about $100 invested in the 4 rubber boots, including the ones that attach to the tips on the inside.    Those Corsa tips appear to be exactly like the ones I used, and they sound really good.  Just my opinion, but others heard then at Rathbun last year.

Do you plan on using the EMI exhaust?  I think the center rise part is at a different angle than a stock mercrusier center rise exhaust.

Red should be able to confirm that.

When the shop made mine they took 2 elbows flared one a little bigger so it would slide like a trombone shorter or longer hooked up the hoses and tack welded it. That way we didnt have to try to cut the exact right size and angle. Then pulled it all apart and welded it solid.
I think this has become an addiction.

Shawn, how did he adjust the angle?

I think they are the same as the later model center rise manifolds, but I've never ran a set of the emi thru a "y" pipe ?
I used two stock 260 elbows for an alpha one application with the oval "y" pipe, my fiend Cody gave me a couple more, but ya know there is a right and left difference for them, the port side is a bit longer than the stbd side, I think I used 3 of the stbd side risers on Barb's boat..

The rubber hose made up most of the angle.  the s pipe we made was pretty much just 2 90's welded together not really any angle that we had to worry about.
I think this has become an addiction.
