The key is NOT to apply in sunlight. The more shade the better, under a carport or in a garage is best.

I cut a white terrycloth towel up into 3-4" squares to use as applicators. Just spray the juice on & try to soak as much as you can into the material. Then wait til it really soaks in for awhile & buff dry with a clean cloth.

It can't cure everything but I've seen the stuff make some purty nasty windshields look good again. Not to mention vinyl interiors, clear vinyl curtains, rubrail inserts, etc. Hell back in my jetski days I'd soak the whole dang ski with 303. It's a great product that I recommend to all of my customers. Try it you'll like it ...

I went to the lake house this past weekend and pulled the windshield, wood, and some of the hardware off the CV23.  Looks like the windshield is not going to be able to be saved, soooo Frankie at Eaton Quade plastics is making me a new one.  Here is a sample of the new acrylic, it's slightly tinted.  I think it will give the boat a sportier look and I just like it better than the clear.  Also started stripping, sanding and got the first coat of Helmsmans clear on the wood.

Lookin' good Barb, how's the shoulder coming along?  I used the Helmsman gloss on my hatch door and trim strips, about four coats.  In hindsight, I think the satin might have looked better?

Lookin' good Barb. Dang that thing's gotta lotta lumber in it! Ya, believe I'd go with a satin/matte finish too Mark.

Too bad the w/s was toast. But least it's in one piece, well 4 pieces actually but y'all know what I mean. Realize this might be a lil premature but what kinda #$ are your boys talkin for the replacement(s)?

Keep up the good work. Carry on.

I'm using semi gloss on the wood.  Did the light sanding on the first coat and applied the second coat today.  The windshield is actually 2 pieces of acrylic, it is the stand up type and not the leaning forward one. Because it fits into a frame it is not as thick as the windscreens on the CVXs.  I'm a pretty good customer of Frankies, he did both sides of the dash on Burnin Daylight and some other small things, so my price is $140 a side. He knows I have some hefty Drs bills to have to take care of right now and my acrylic vent cover has a crack in it and he might the business of reproducing one of those.  Don't know what he would charge as a rule.  I also told him not to get in a hurry that I won't be needing it for another 45 days. The windshield and the wood will be the last things to go on after wet sand and buff, the graphics for the name and registration numbers which must match, and OleRed works his magic on it.

I came down to the lake house to start on the finish on HOT KNOTS.  The registration numbers and that sun devil thing are painted.  What a pain in the rear.  Worked most of yesterday just to get the paint off, and got to spend a few hours wet sanding and buffing from the windshield forward..

Finally got her stripped of her former identiy.  I guess now she is the CV23 formerly known as the sun devil.

Thank you Jeff Rockwell for the products and the advice.  After much wet sanding, according to Jeff "sand, sand, sand, and when you think youre done, sand some more" and compounding and buffing, she is starting to look much better.

Barb, I might be mistaken but your boat isn't a CV23, it's either a CVX23 or a CSS23. As far as I know the CV23 always had the windscreen the other way around, the others the opposite.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The '84 Catalog says its still a CV-23...I don't believe the windshield dictates the model on the 23's as it was an option for either way for a few years.

Hmm...all the catalogs say its a CV-23 still...I thought it didn't change to a CVX-20 until like '87?  and then was only available with the windshield like Barbs?

Is that right? I never realized that it was an option... But the later models weren't named CV anymore and always had the windshield the "right" way around like boats do today.

Ya lookin good Barb. Cain't wait to see an interior shot with the refinished lumber. Might be my imagination but that color looks an awful lot like the "Sunset Red" on my C-500. Hmm ...

I think the first swept windshield on the CV-23 showed up in 1981, after the CV-27 made it's day view in 1979 with the swept windshield, I hear that look was offered as a custom option, after the jet drives were discontinued, 1981, as well was the CV-23-HT,  but it was still called a CV-23.  I believe the first CVX-23 came out in 1985 or 86 with the swept windshield, other than a custom build, the signature series, CSS-23 in 1989, as did the CSS-19 and I believe the CSS-28, but all the CSS models had a completely different color scheme, but still kept the "glastron " look on the sides of the hull.

Believe it or not,  the Glastron dealer here in Oks told me at the boat show that he bought out a Glastron dealer in Texas  some years back, four semi truck loads of parts, in the purchase was included a several brand new old boats, two of them are a 1960 Fireflite with a hard top, and a CSS-28 both are brand new, never been rigged out, or ever even seen any water.  and No !  he is not interested in selling them, or even looking for any NOS parts that he may have for our old boats, including a Scimitar windshield, and something else kinda funny, Barb has probably crawled over all those parts installing the phone system in that warehouse.

Okay. OleRed you are not only the godness of the Scimitar, also you are the CV23 man! Thanks. There's always something to learn out on these forums.

Wow! That really is a shame. Imagine you got two brand new Firelights sitting in your garage.

Hahaha that really is funny!

That same Glastron dealer sold Burnin Daylight when she was new.  He offered me factory delivered price on the registration to buy her back. She's not for sale.
