Tim's Intimidator rebuild ...
« on: March 12, 2012, 04:49:23 PM »
Between yesterday and today I glassed my stringers and transome together,  bedded my transome, bedded my stringers, replaced rotten wood for the rub rail (about 3 feet on each side), replaced the wood backing for the transome tie downs, and tabbed in all the stringers. Might be more All in all, a very productive weekend.

Run on Rathbun?  Love to have a brotha.  if you can bring RTC to Rathbun, I'll try to make Minneapolis so we can make couple of paternal twins.  Looking good.  Just remember OleRed been there done that.  And myself. :-*

Looks great! If yer not planning to put anything under the floor might I recommend you consider 'shoe boxing' the stringers a lil. Might be a pipe dream but I believe it adds lateral stability?

Thats some Nice Work !

I'm curous, because I see the boat is on the trailer, did you check to see if the hull was true, the "hook"  the same on each side, I think the "hook" is just out-side the stringers, I've only seen that in Barb's boat, so I'm no authority.

The black spots on the transom .. were trim tabs installed there ?

I am planning on shoe boxing in the stringers. Hopefully this weekend. Then the floor.
Red, I looked the underside of the transom over pretty good and the only place I could see anything resembling a hook was like you stated, outside the stringers. I'm not one for measuring to the hundredths of an inch but it looks good to me. We will all see how bad I screwed up this spring.

If you are wondering what the h___ that picture is of in the previous post, well that is a 65" paddle fish. The walleye fishing at red wing this year has been great, with the occasional monster (sturgeon, northern, paddles, 30+" walleyes, 20+" sauger). It its really easy for me to get distracted living this close to open water all year round.

Tim does your boat have the round back seats in it like mine? I am picking up a sheet of the bendable plywood tonight for the seat backs and you can only get it in a 4x8 sheet. Let me know if you are going to need some for your seat backs.
I think this has become an addiction.

I really don't know what kind of seats where in this thing to begin with. I'm not sure how I'm going to build them. I might take you up on your offer.

Too many buttons

I agree. I am not a fan of the button's either of the early 80's. The pleated round back seats of 77 look cool though.

I love the updated interiors Andy put in his Intimidator and CVX18. Fit the lines of the boat better than what the factory put in. Here's a link to his website. Definitely what I'd love to with mine when the time comes.
