Fabbed up the fuel tank/deck support box today. Cut the seat based. Glassed in the tank box. I actually ended up splitting the hull so I could get the support under the deck.

Today was crap in regards to progress. Carpeted either side of the tank box, noticed that some of the glass supporting the dash area to the deck was split, reglassed those. Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive. I bet no one can tell me why there was so little progress today. I will tell you tomorrow. Think real hard........

I did paint my transom assembly, rams, and inner plate today. No pics though. I'm guessing you know what they look like. If not, they are black.   ;D

Speed trolling.  ;D

Cut the transom out, secured the fuel tank, glassed in the foot board, glassed in the seat bases, and glassed in the motor mounts. Time for the flotation boxes.

Anyone see something wrong with this lower shift cable? Blue one is the old one.

The one that threads in from the front side of the bell housing is a pre-alpha cable. The one that threads in from the rear side (drive side) is an Alpha cable. You can still use the newer cable, just need to rethread the hole as per the instructions at the link below. I've done this mod, it works fine.

I tapped the shift cable hole from the opposite side today, worked perfect. Thanks again Rich. Also installed the u-joint belows, new water hose, new trim sender and limit switch, new studs and bolts for the transom assembly, all new tilt/trim lines, a fresh coat of paint, and new u-joints.

Getting there.

It wasn't the mercury/mercruiser stuff I used on the 18 this time. It was rustoleum enamel.

I tried painting my outdrive once with rustoleum and it just peeled off. I didn't do much prep work though. Been trying to find something that will stick!

I know the merc stuff stuck on the 18 but I prepped that drive the same as this one. The merc stuff is obviously more expensive, thought I would try something else. We will aw how it holds up.

Tim, how did you prep the drive for the paint?  I'm gonna want to paint the drive on the CV23

I ruffed it up some with some sand paper then sprayed the whole thing down with something called blue shower. It gets rid of all the oils and grease on the surface. But don't get it on your new paint cause it will shrivel it on real quick. I'm no expert on painting. I know one of the Shawna use to paint automobiles. I also know he painted his CV-16 drive before the boat show this year, maybe he will chime in.
