Imo diamond pleat is the best choice for a CV/CVX. (I wouldn't trade yours for anything Barb.) Followed by press pleat. I'm not a huge fan of buttons either, but they do look good in certain applications.

Keep in mind there are some purty far out textures available nowadays, embossed into smooth vinyl, that are very cool. Morbern makes one called "shock" that looks kinda like carbon fiber, purty neat.

Another thing to consider is you're gonna have to live with your interior for as long as you own the boat. So don't rush into it. Get samples, compare colors & manufacturers, material specifications, etc.

She's coming along nicely Tim. Carry on.

Thanks a lot. Now I have even more to think about. All kidding aside, I really don't even know what is available. I haven't decided on a color range. I do know I want it to look period correct. But I am going to look up that carbon fiber looking stuff for fun. At least with my 18 the interior was salvageable. Too many decisions.

Thanks for the compliments.
And Barb, I was planning on Iowa with the intimidator, it all depends on the interior.

I had a guy out to look at mine today said matching the orange color wouldnt be a problem also said he sould probably get it with the pleating if I wanted. He was also figuring about 2800.00 give or take. I have now had Quotes from $800- $2800 to do the interior. I figured doing the seats myself would cut the cost a lot more.

I think this has become an addiction.

I'll try'n remember to bring a chunk home'n scan it tomorrow. I'm not suggesting one should do his or hers entire interior in it. But I plan to incorporate some of it in the future. Got all kinda pipe dreams for the C500 ...

Yo Sean $2800 is a lil pricey considering you did the bases. I'd bid 13-14 hunnert for a job like yours.

Yeah I was thinking around 1200 to 1500. We will see though. I also need to have a cover made our find a nice after market, which I'm betting doesn't exist.

I'm with ya Doug, I like to fell over when George got estimates to cover the interior on that scimitar, three quote's, from $2800 to $2400, and all they had to do was cover the seats, and the two little side panels, I built the seats, bought some new foam, cut to fit, he got it done for the $2200 and it didn't really look professional to me, the cushoins were sewn like square corners, and they were round, left little pimples stickin up, after that I bought an Adler industrial machine, see if me and the Fox can do that kinda work,  we done one job so far, and thats when I realized how much time it takes to do an interior job.  here's a pic of the scimitar, and then the YellowJacket we done.

Ya I 'member the yeller jacket. Diamond pleat kicks butt!

Hear ya Red. If only I had a magic needle ...  Tell ya what if'n I could walk on water it'd make my job a whole lot easier! But I digress.

Kudos to you'n the Fox. Not bad. Not good, but not bad. Heh heh heh. Looks purty dang good actually!

Yeah I never imagioned one would have to use so much gray matter doing this crap but one does. You can teach a monkey to sew btw. (I've seen video ...) But patterning'n measuring'n tailoring'n dealing with customers is when my brain starts to hurt ...  Incredibly we just celebrated our 8th anniversary!? Woohoo!

Would I do it again I dunno. Would I change anything? Nah ... But I probly aged 20yrs in the past 8. I'd never used a sewing machine in my life before falling into the business. It was a leap of faith. What a long strange trip it's been.

edit. Sorry for the hijack Tim. Sometimes I blather on'n on. I blame it on Ole Red. Boat looks great btw ...

The guy that will do my CVX interior (bench and two buckets) is charging me $550 for new foam and to sew everything up. My material is flat and he will take 1/8" foam and sew in some 3" pleats for the seats. That price is with bases made by me and me providing the material. I've seen his work and it's really good. He's done quite a few street rods around here

Another guy quoted me $1200 for doing everything including building the base structures.

Me and Shawn are in about the same spot as far as interior work, actually we will need about the same interior work done, we are both getting quotes with the possiblity of both going to the same place depending on price. Hopefully work out a deal if we go to the same place.

I don't mean to be hi-jacking a thread, but I find myself doing so ocasionally, but this boat you are building ?  is this the same intimidator that was brought up to Red Wing two years ago, seems like the fellow that had it then was Steve ?  but I'm goofy, might have had a drink since then ?  just wondering ?
