I don't think you'll want to mess with twin engines, especially old Chryslers. Two engines means twice the maintenance in parts and cost. And even with twin 20's you're only getting 40 horsepower at most when that boat can take around 90hp. 50hp and up is ideal.

Welcome to the CGOAMN Dean !

You might have trouble squeezing two motors onto your transom, pretty tight for just one ...
If ya could squeeze two on, setting up a steering system would also be a problem.

My V-156 came with a 1971 Merc 65 HP motor with out tilt & trim and I could get about 36 mph on gps with a 17P prop, third hole out on trim, latter replaced it with a 1994 Johnson 60 HP motor with T&T and could get about 41 mph on gps with 19P prop ( just me in the boat with a light load of fuel) a 17P would work with some people in the boat or pulling tube/skiers.

A newer 70 to 90 HP Johnson/Evinrude would work well on that hull.
My 60 HP Johnson would go all day on 9 gals. of fuel ... while my 115 HP Merc/Mariner takes 20 plus gals to do the same ...
Post some pictures of your V-156 ...

Gregg, I think you're right on the space. It looks to small to me too. The steering would be fine though.

He may have that for some time. The only thing worth real dollars is the hood, and then only if the script is all there and good. I use the '58 motor which has a locking tilt, and then convert it to single fuel line, I sold this one for $1,000 with a rebuilt tank.

Dean, Hannays Marine in St. Anthony can supply parts and we offer a 15% discount to CGOAMN members. What size motor are you thinking? My wife and I closed up shop a year ago but I still have some stuff in storage.
