Anyone have a good picture of the banner Brian always has up?  A good one of the registration area as well?  Send it to the email address if you do!

I was thinking of loading the files to something like photobucket that would play through the pictures like a slide show. Not sure it's possible, but I think it would be a neat way to show off the groups boats to visitors of the web site.

Just keep in mind Jason, that the target is for Art.

If the idea is to turn this into a public video, I won't want my name & city out there for the world (ie every Identify thief in the world) to see.  A little bit of internet anonymity is a good thing.  Why make it easy for them?

Art sitting in the care center, I'm good with.

And btw, the link at the first post IS a slideshow.

I suspect that because this idea for Art is such a good one, that it has some of our creative juices going - and having been a victim of a minor case of identity theft, I can also understand the hesitation of putting your name out in the public view...in fact it came to my mind before I submitted our picture.

It eased my mind while rationalizing to allow our names and city because it was for Art - plus the names and cities are already pretty much out there in the public domain anyway (at least our tax records are around here) - so the only real risk is probably from possible Glastron collectors.   ;)   But as I said, I certainly understand the hesitation and had the same thoughts myself.

There might be some other future possibilities opening up from this though, which is what I think 74GlasCarlSS is eluding to. Maybe some "tweaking", or "enhancement" to our website to keep it "fresh"? I don't want to use the term "improvement" because that might imply there's something wrong with our current site, which I think is actually pretty good (my compliments to the original designers) - but there are sometimes new "additions" or "tweaking" that might keep people coming back to see what's new too.

You might even be "inventing" a marketable product with this "slideshow" and digital picture frame idea concept too - even if only to club members...possibly calendar ideas (club members special editions?) or maybe even a new concept for Alzheimer's patients (pictures of their past put into digital frames - kind of a "digital signage" variation (digital signage has turned into a big business)). Some of these ideas might actually be marketable, if not even patentable, services and items...but maybe I'm dreaming??   :)

The flaw to you tax records argument is that currently, an identify thief wouldn't have our name & city to even start with...posting this out there gives them a key starting point, yes they could randomly search them.  If you saw what we've had to do to block IP's from Eastern Europe & China, you'd worry too.

The plan is to lock down/remove the album when we're done.  Its a gift for Art, let's keep the focus there.

Sorry, no offense intended if there was any. Just thinking out loud.

Either way, thank you for undertaking this project - it was a wonderful idea!   :)

No, no I wasn't offended.  I get the enthusiasm and that's good!

I'm just really for spring...and you're right Red had an awesome idea.

I'm happy to put the slideshow together without the name & city for a more public version...we can just call that section 'Member boats' and I'll just remove the names/city and throw it up on youtube as a slideshow/movie.

and Jim (bellj) - if you want to put together a 2-3 minute mashup video in 800x600 size I'd love to add that to the frame!

I think some of the parade & then I'm sure Art would love to see them flying down the river!

Maybe not necessarily for Art's frame ... but someone trolling this thread might like the image ...

I wish I had some super resolution images of metal flake under some thick gel ...

I have not heard from Gary or Bill yet, I will rattle their cage tomorrow.

I have not seen "Okie Dokie" yet, "Hot Knots" or the "Silver Fox"
