Glastron bringing back Jet powered boats in 2014
« on: August 02, 2013, 10:33:42 AM »
Just read the announcement on their website.  Did you guys also know that they've brought in the Scarab brand as well?  (I didn't.)

Sometimes I think we need a section for Glastron Corporate news...

I like that they are still with the SSV hull.  I really liked mine in the previous boat - my next will likely be an SSV, too (aside from the '68/'69 160 if I ever decide to pull a trigger)

Rec Boat Holdings rolls out new Glastron line for 2014

Iconic brand continues to expand, including new jet models

Cadillac, Michigan, July 29, 2013 – Rec Boat Holdings has launched the 2014 model year line up to an audience of more than 30 International dealers at its headquarters in Cadillac, Michigan today. The Company will also introduce the new lineup to its top dealers at an exclusive Leadership Conference scheduled for August 4-6th.

The Glastron brand has undergone a tremendous redesign effort bringing new and innovative features to this iconic line of boats. The new model year adds the all-new GT245, a 24-foot feature-packed open bow boat, new Legacy models and the GTX160 and GTX185, both entry level models designed to attract the budget-conscious buyer. In addition to these new sterndrive and outboard powered models, the Company announced a new line of jet powered boats – the GT187 and GT207.

The expansion of jet boats was recently announced, along with the company’s new Scarab® brand, to include the new GT187 for Glastron. The Rotax-powered jet boat, the first of a series of models to roll out in 2014, promises to bring a whole new level of boating fun to the Glastron line. Jet power delivers unique benefits to boaters including shallow water operation, quick acceleration and additional cockpit space.

“The rich heritage of Glastron continues to attract consumers to the product,” stated Roch Lambert, Group President, Rec Boat Holdings. “We have strived to maintain that heritage while delivering a brand new, modern day design that delivers on the Glastron promise of fun and family adventure. This model year emphasizes our commitment to grow the brand by providing a broad range of affordable boats to fit the needs and desires of our consumers,” Lambert stated.

The GT245 expands the overall GT line to provide a roomier, open bow model packed with all-day features including an enclosed head with sink. The widely popular Legacy series expands into nine models, providing a broader choice for the discerning customer looking for a little more luxury in their boat. The attractive GTX160 and GTX185 models offer first-time buyers an exciting design specially packaged at an attractive MSRP.

“Our dealers are very excited with our expansion into jets,” declared Lambert. He continued, “The jet market continues to gain popularity with consumers looking for more options in how they use their boats. By expanding the Glastron line to include jets, we have provided our network additional growth opportunities and our consumers new options in boating.”

The newly designed Glastron models are available at authorized retailers worldwide. Visit www.glastron.com for more information and follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/glastronboats.

They'll be using the same engines that Sea-Doo water craft use. Horsepower depends on programming in the computer and super charger options.

I like those rear lounge seats.  Better come with seatbelts for the fools who will try to race across the lake with someone sitting in them.
