71 glastron, SSV-177 rear motor cover
« on: July 24, 2014, 09:30:41 AM »
I am looking for the rear motor cover for a 71  SSV-177 Glastron. You can see from the pics, the piece I am needing. I am restoring the boat for my Father in law for his 100th birthday. He bought this boat new. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you post a picture of entire boat ?
1971 V-177 would have been a Tri-Hull, and the outdrive in your picture looks newer then a 1971 MC.

I had the same thought. What is the HIN on the hull? that will tell the year.

Thank you all very much for your quick response.. The boat is not a trihull. It is a V hull. Here are some more pics of the boat.. As you can see it and the trailer are in pretty bad shape.. But I am going to restore it over the next few months.. I will double check the year of the boat later this weekend.. Unless someone on here can identify it.. LOL

Thank you again for your help.

My wife found a pic of the registration, and I found out it is a 1977 NOT a 71.. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated..

On the registration what are the last two digits of the VIN or HIN? that would be the exact year

Gregg, Thank you for the info.. It will come in very handy, especially when I tear the engine down for a complete rebuild this winter..  But prior to that, I am in need for that back motor cover.. If anyone knows where I can find one, it would be great help..  With that, I can take my father in law out on the lake.. He would like to drive it one or 2 more times.  At 100 years old, I figure he deserves the chance..
Thanks again.

What part of the country (or world) are you located in Jarhead?  I'm thinking your motor cover will probably have to be sourced from a boat salvage yard, it may help to know your location to assist.

Salvage yard or a parts boat on Craigslist.
Hood could have been used on more then one model, and other years also.

Chad, are you talking about the one in Shawnee that sits on the north side of I40 just east of Shawnee?? If so, it caught on fire about 6 or 8 months ago I believe.. He lost most of his used stuff. But I will try another call to him/
Thanks.

What is wrong with the cover you have?
I have a 77 ssv-189. I may be parting it out. Not sure yet.
I would think shipping would be cost prohibitive however.
My wife still thinks we should restore this and call it hers.

If it fits, I would be interested in it. Where are you located and would you be willing to sell it.?
