Thanks Dan. Got it out by sticking a punch through the socket & beating it against the driveway.

Well the exhaust cover has to come back off. Wasn't paying attention and didn't notice it was missing the mounting lugs for the trim solenoid box. Duh! Musta been focused on the pee hole. Oh well still got 2 new gaskets if I can't save the one's that are on it.

Monkeyed around some with the throttle & shift linkage. Think I got it purty much figgered out.

The hardest part of this is gonna be attatching the electronics. This '76 block is a lil lacking on mounting lugs. I'm hoping I'll be able to stick some'a the stuff on the newer inspection covers. Note the multiple lugs on them:

Layin out the "plug & play" ignition. This is as close to perfection OMC got on these motors. The one small brain box eliminates the two earlier bulkier power packs, and the wiring required. It's a much more streamlined system. This one came off the '92 88 Special. Knew I bought that motor for sumpthin ...

The only drawback to these is they're rev-limited to 6200 rpm. Wussies ...

Changed my butt ... My new one has two extra 'dimples'. See:

Ah well. As they saying goes, "Practice, practice, practice." Sigh ... (I just love takin chit on'n off for no other reason than stupidity the first time around?)

Regardless the T & T module will now be in it's rightful place.

Thanks Brandon. Ya she's gettin there. Lil drawback today. Wiring harness I thought I was gonna use is not so great. Insulation is literally peeling off some of the leads. Dang! Ah well I guess it just means more splicing?

Found another treasure in one'a the parts boxes. Brand new cowl gasket: WooHoo!

Take back what I said about the powerpack. Upon further investigation it is not rev limited. WooHoo!

Now all's I gotta do is find somehow to mount it. Only got 1 hole outa 3 & that ain't too good?

More 'tronics. Got 2 outa three bolts in the powerpack now. Wallered out the holes with a file to make it fit. No hope for lining up the last hole less'n I fab some kinda bracket. But two outa three ain't bad ...?

Ain't got the wiring harness I'd prefer. So there's gonna be a fair amount of cobbling goin on, but oh well.

For example we already have a female on female connector issue with the timer base. Gonna have to change the sex of one of em. As it should be ...

Well we thought we might install the powerhead today. That didn't go so good. Does anyone remember me saying pre '77 blocks won't fit on '78 & up mids ...? I believe I might've mentioned something as well about making sure the mid gasket perfectly matched the powerhead ...

What a rookie mistake! Been crying ever since ...

Looks like I'll be using that drilled mid after all. Reckon I'll just have to plug the holes if'n it's too loud?

Had to make some mods to the pan so's the shift linkage would clear. But I kinda like this pan. In addition to bein purty the cool thing about it is it has dual pee-holes. And I'm gonna use em both ...

On a lighter note: As purty as they are we will be forsaking the aluminum lower cowlings for plastic ones. A combined 730 gram weight savings!

Talk about putting the brakes on a project ...  Anybody gotta '73-'76 mid/exhaust housing? Joe? Do you still got the one from the '75 115?

Thanks Joe. Think all's I need is the mid "housing" itself (see pic). Bleve the resta the stuff bolts up.

Having said that it might be wise to have the whole mid?

Bolt spacing to the pwrhead should be like so:

so the motor don't fit on the mid in the pix ?
the lower mount on the swivel is different on the older ones
apparently 76 and 77 are odd, or a mix of some sort.
anyway i have a mid and swivel i can spare, but the pre 77 are hydro mech lower, newer are full mech
i don't kno if the lower swaps but have herd you can make the newer trim fit the older swivel some how.
any ways the 2 135's are 76, older style swivel that work with external trim.
i can pull one apart later this week and send you some pix/dims

Ya the mid is new pattern. Block was reported to be a '77 115. (Heads were.) But as we later learned it's a '76 135. None of us dumbazzes thought to roll the motor over'n look at the bottom. Sigh ...

So basically I'm screwed. Nothing I have will fit. If'n I wanna run this pwrhead. I'm gonna purty much need everything that mounts underneath it. Adapter plate is different. Thermostats are different. Mid is different. Bracket is different. Lower is different. Etc, etc.

I'm so po'd & frustrated right now Joe, dunno what I'm gonna do. 'Posed to look at a complete '75 motor tomorrow afternoon. Guy says it ran great ... 5 or so yrs ago ...  askin $250. But I'm still not convinced I wanna head in that direction.

I have the same problem. I traded Jerry Sellner a 75 Stinger for a V4 powerhead that I thought would fit my '60 75, but it doesn't so I need a complete motor to fit my powerhead too. Sounds like Joe has a collection that need what we have (maybe) Hard to find with T&T. Mine is different than either of those.

Doug, yea i think  you do need all the old stuff...
i would have no prob knocking one of 135's in the head and shipping you the mid and swivel but im reluctant to let a lower go.
i suspect shipping would be too high anyways.
either way the pre 77 motors use the external trim system, i have herd that a newer integral trim can be fitted to an older motor.
i think it would take some machining cuz the swivel on the newer motor is a half inch longer than the older one (see pix)
Jerry, looks like that is a 73 to 77 block

Okay. I was angry before but now I'm just really confused.

Grew a wild hair'n tore down the "'76". Attacked it from the top. Got to the bottom'n thought, gee this looks more like a '78 & up motor. Hmm ...

Some sadist altered the bolt pattern to fit an earlier model. Which makes no sense cuz the base is different?

See the line-up: '75 115, '76 135(?), '78 140. Is it just me or does that 135 look more like the 140?
