Not Boat Related
« on: October 29, 2014, 07:10:42 PM »
I was at the York, Pa. snowmobile show this past weekend and got to see the new Polaris Slingshot in real time.  It's quite a revolutionary product to say the least. Not an automobile but sold as a motorcycle. With 3 wheels it seams to compete with the Can Am Spyder except this has side by side seating and a steering wheel. At 1700#'s and 170Hp it should go quite well. Looks interesting but I have too many Boat projects to complete.

Did you know that years ago "Indian" sold dirt bikes? Yup. We had one. 2 stroke motor by Minarelli. Early 70's model.

I dunno. I just never got the appeal of a big heavy bike.

Doug, didn't Harley have a line of bikes by Minarelli also?

Harley had Golf Carts. 2 cycle direct reversing engine, like a dock-buster.

I'd have to check if Harley's "Scrambler" motor was made by Minarelli but it's quite possible. Member those bikes? Kinda quasi enduro. Pos compared to just about anything else that was being offered at the time.

The Harley's I was thinking about were built by Aermacchi.

Funny thing about those old "Harleys" is we purty much scoffed at em when they first came out. Just about any other bike was better. Now they're worth 10 times those other bikes  Go figure ...
