Our newest member has a question
« on: January 20, 2016, 12:32:17 PM »
Eduardo Arroyo's email sent to CGOAMN.

Good afternoon!
I am Eduardo Arroyo de Argentina; I just joined the forum.
Buy a boat a few years ago and decided to restore it completely, unaware that mark was reached in forums and look through images to infer that a Sportsman Glastron V-171, I really want to be sure that is this.
Here attached pictures of the boat on which state was and how I was changing.
I wish I saw this email and reply if he really is a Glastron.

Greetings from Gualeguaychu, Entre Rios, Argentina.
Eduardo Arroyo

I'm not sure if it is or not ... Rich ?

I don't think it's a Glastron. Looks similar to the late 60's V172 but the windshield and dash in that area is totally different.

Either way, you saved an old boat from the ditch. I really like the transformation and looks like you are enjoying the boat which is what it is all about. Keep the pictures coming. I'd love to get to Argentina some day.....especially Patagonia!

Great story. Thanks for sharing.

Who knows...we've seen unique designs from non-North American Glastron's before where the top cap is unique to the region, but the bottom hull is the same.

Hard to know...La Raya's have some unique designs the US never saw.

Early to mid 60's 17 foot design, could be and export version but is very similar to the 171 Sportsman. This is from the 1965 brochure below:

I am thinking the same thing. It looks like a 171 to me by the brochure.

The walk-thru (lack of a flip-up hatch), windshield, and dashboard are different though.

That's what I was saying but looking at it harder it's definitely been modified before the first pictures posted. Maybe it was filled in. Or like Doran says, maybe it had a special cap made for it.

My guess this boat has a huge story to tell...........

Welcome.

The data plates will tell the genisis.

Take  a couple pictures of the data plates up by the power controls and steering wheel, and if there is a hull number inscribed on the rear transom.
