Hello. I am in need of a Glastron Carlson CV23 gas cap. The boat is a 1978. The boat did not have the correct cap when I bought it. I have had no luck finding one in aftermarket or elsewhere. Help me please! I would be forever grateful. I am currently using a temporary plumbing plug :(
See the attached photos for the fill opening size and what the original cap looked like. If you don't have one, could you direct me to someone that may?
Thank you!

Hi Mark .. and welcome to the forum !
I've been told there are a few different size's depending on brand.

Maybe get a "gas cap assembly" and try cap, if it won't fit replace with new assembly ..

I've tried a replacement cap online but the thread pattern is different. Mine originally wasn't reinstalled after fueling and slid off the bow onto the road where it was run over by no less then a billion cars. As soon as I noticed it was missing, about 20 minutes, I went back to retrieve it. The threads were fine but the pretty side was trashed. I ended up assembling that boat but to keep the saddle moving along I switched the cap with our cv23..... same thread pattern. I bought a filler assembly off a parts glastron but the two pieces were seized. Your best bet is off one if the parts Glastrons returning back to the earth.

Ok, a quick search and the differences are one is 1 1/2 npt, the other is 1 1/2 straight pipe thread. I think we have the straight pipe thread option. As I remember the one I picked up online screwed in about 2/3 of the way. Obviously it was the npt version.

I have researched this cap dilemma quite a bit. I called dealers and had them measure caps but this size of cap seems to be unique. Maybe the cap is not original...appears to be though. It is a bigger cap than most out on the web. (See measurement in photo)
I would rather find an original cap, but if all else fails a whole new assembly is in order. Just don't want to wander away from OEM.
So if anyone out there has something, let me know.
Thank you!

I have a few caps in the garage I can try to take a look tonight. Otherwise we have a 77 V266 that is For Parts, if you’re not into big a hurry I could check that out next time I’m at the farm

Glastron used vendors for all there hardware.
OEM would have been Attwood, Perko, Tempo, etc.

Thank you! Let me know.

I looked at the pile of them I have here nothing matches those dimensions in that style. I will see what’s on the V266 this weekend.

The one on the 266 was crap, and I double checked everything I have is either three or 3 1/4 inches on the outside

Did you ever find this gas cap ?
I know where there are 2 boats with this assembly in nice shape.
I can grab it for you next time I head up north if you like.
Regards,
Neil

Hello group. I have not found a gas cap (or deck fill assembly) yet.
I have attached some new photos that may shed some light on what I am looking for.
I did pull the deck fill off the boat for viewing and measuring.
Here is what I know:
-Deck fill is branded TEMPO
-The outside splash guard flange edge to edge is about ~3 5/8" wide
-It uses a 2" hose to the tank
-The original cap had two finger tabs protruding as shown in this initial post
Finding a complete new or used deck fill assembly or a new or used cap would make my Christmas. :)
Let me know if you have something like what is shown in these new pictures or can point me to a new one just like it. I would sure appreciate it. I really would.

Tempo closed back in 2007 ..
No one makes that style in a 2 inch hose size.
Maybe find a used one on eBay ?
Or replace with flush style filler ..

I had a marina loose mine off my CV-23 this year too. I am also in need of a gas cap

After extensive research and turning up negative results finding a replacement TEMPO gas cap (or Tempo deck fill assembly) for my 1978 Glastron Carlson CV23, I started the search for a whole new deck fill assembly. Be aware there are a ton of different deck fills out there and I could not believe the multitude of differences. So measure accordingly. Here is what I found as the absolute closest match dimensionally (as far as c/c screw hole dimensions, flange width, overall length and fill hose size):
https://www.eddiemarine.com/shop/fuel-system-parts/gas-fills/aluminum-flush-gas-fills/stainless-steel-flush-mount-fuel-fill-2-hose
Purchased from here: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edm-265-25
Although I wished I could have found the original tabbed gas cap and/or deck fill assembly with the splash guard, this Eddie Marine unit fit perfectly and the quality is excellent. See the attached pictures of finished installation.
Thank you all for your help!
I hope this thread helps someone else so they don't have to go through all the research.
