Title: Evolution of the Mercruiser Outdrive
Post by: Jason on April 26, 2011, 09:59:04 AM
So we all know the Mercruiser outdrive has gone through many changes. Does anyone know the major changes of each system and what is not interchangeable?

Select Shift
1A, 1B, 1C,
R
MR
Alpha I
Alpha II
Bravo
ect....

I am sure their are more but that's what came to my mind at the moment. I might even have some of these wrong too.....

Biggest question. Is the transom cutout and thickness requirements the same for all mercruiser transom assemblies?

A lot of good information there but I disagree with some of the facts in that pdf.

There were also the TR and TRS drives that had transmissions mounted between the engine and transom assembly. These drives were the forerunners of the Bravo I, II, and III drives.
