Title: 1971 Glastron 160 GT vendor help needed
Post by: 1sailor! on November 21, 2015, 07:49:16 PM
Can anyone recommend an upholstery and carpet supplier who might carry the orange vinyl and carpeting used in 1971 for the Glastron 160 GT?   I do have a sample to help, but I need to narrow down whom to contact who might be able to locate the proper material.    I am also looking for a company to mold/bend a replacement wrap around windshield.   Mine is complete but crazed, so I would like to replace it.   Again lots of vendors, but I am guessing some are more familiar with this windshield than others.  Thanks.

Where are you located again? There is a place in lakeville mn called Masterglas that has made copies of the old windshields for a few of us.

The carpet and vinyl is nearly impossible to find the exact original. You can do searches online for marine carpet. Also check Menards/home depot/lowes/ect for indoor/outdoor carpet. I ended up finding my closest match to my green at Home Depot. As far as the vinyl goes, I think you might find the correct orange but finding it with the correct pleating is nearly impossible.

The vendor I used for vinyl is gone, so guess they went out of business ...
But ...
I did a search for vinyl, found some that looked close, ask for a sample and matched to a small piece I found under my deck.
It took a few samples to get close to color I needed.

Your orange shouldn't be hard to find, but houndstooth inserts might be a bit harder.
Just make sure it's marine vinyl/fabric.

Members are/have rebuilt GT160's and live on the east coast, there threads might be helpful with local vendors.
