So I believe I am correct in saying that the Glastron-Carlson CVX 16 was dropped in 1981
I am currently tracking a Glastron CVX16 with the CVX16 clearly on the dash
Is this boat actually a carlson that Glastron simply did not put the carlson logo on
Or is it a different hull altogether?
Is it common or rare?
Any help on this is appreciated

You didn't state what year the boat you're 'tracking' is claimed to be?

Boats can be a mystery with having several owners. This group has seen plenty of rebadged watercraft as being Glastrons. Post some pictures, maybe someone could help in your crusade.

Sorry boat is 1981 Glastron CVX16

Sorry boat is 1981 Glastron CVX16
Glastron was happy to sell any left over 80 model hulls as 81's...or even fulfill special orders the next year even though they may not be in the sales catalog of that year. So...anything is possible.

In 1981 Glastron / Carlson changed to the "Metric series" .. Very different from CVX series.
Post a picture or link to boat if you can.
If not .. you can check / find brochures here ..
http://www.classicglastron.com/gl-the-years-web.html
Glastron's web site has PDF's of brochures and Dealer's guides (P.I.G.'s) ..
Click drop down and select year
https://www.glastron.com/us/catalogs-and-product-information
To find exact year, check right side of stern, just under rub rail for HIN.
Last four digits will be year and month built.

Here are some pictures of boat

Nice looking CVX 8)
Could be a 1980 CVX16 in Persian orange and Buff.
HIN would say for sure ..
1981's were C500 Metrics.
1982 CVX16 were Amber MF.

Yes it is a Carlson. It originally had a Glastron/Calrson badge on it. The boat was rebadged at some point.
-
So why do you say it?s been rebadaged??
The boat is in Saskatchewan Canada
Has original hunters marine sales decal on it
I think it?s a carlson CVX that when they dropped that model in 1981
In the us they shipped to Canada put a Glastron decalal on it and sold
?????

Just my 2 cents ..
I think it's a Glastron / Carlson CVX16 built in Anaheim California for the 1980 model year.
Shipped to Canada, sold, Carlson emblem cracked or fell off.
Owner couldn't find a original Carlson emblem or liked the Glastron emblem better ..So replaced with Glastron emblem.
Not sure why a dealer or importer would remove emblem .. Glastron and Glastron/Carlson were the same company.
Only way to tell ( for sure ) which year the boat is .. is by HIN.
Titles & reg. papers are often wrong for many different reasons.
There were a few splash's CVX hull's in Canada.
Easy to tell by stern, dash and HIN's.
-
So why do you say it?s been rebadaged??
Because all Glastron/Carlsons during that time were built in the Anaheim, CA plant and badged as a Glastron-Carlson. Glastrons were built in Texas.
Shipped to Canada, sold, Carlson emblem cracked or fell off.
Owner couldn't find a original Carlson emblem or liked the Glastron emblem better ..So replaced with Glastron emblem.
I'd say your spot on with that Greg!

There's a very good "Glastron History" post here ...
