I reduced that clear tubing down by inserting a smaller tube in side it to restrict water flow and keep it cooling the motor:

Dave  ...
From what I've been told by a few early CV16 owners, the deck is glassed to the hull and not just tabbed in a few spots like the newer CV's, by newer I mean (1974 models) with the hump by the wind shield bar.
PLUS the deck and rub rail were riveted to the hull, newer one had screws for deck and rub rail ...

I would bet the PO cut out the back of the splash well, dug out the old transom wood, replaced with new and glassed the splash well back on, which is why it's white/orange and no skid back there ...

Piece he cut to access transom wood ...

As you can see from above picture the cracks in your splash well might just be from the repair work ...
And not a bad transom ...

I have a plate on mine to cover old Merc mounting scars ...

Gregg

Unbelievable!

You called it.  I took a closer look underneath the top deck by the transom and there is a couple of spots I could see a CLEAR CUT, not ragged cracks.  That top deck was cut through to get at the transom and dig it out.  The transom looks clean with no patches evident over the existing fiberglass.  This pic is back in one of the corners and just right of the white blotch you can see a straight line cut.  The cracks on top must just be a filler material of some sort.

So, it looks like the transom was done, what a HUGE bonus.  Still going to have to do the floor though.  And get the clock time set correct.  :)

Thanks greatly for your knowledge and help.

I have looked for one of those spot lights for a long time and finally went to Tim's Marine outside of Grantsburg Wi. I took parts of 4 to make one. Is there a cable under the bow? A knob in the dash for adjusting the spot light? I have some pieces left over I would part with. I believe the light is held to the base with a pressed in pin, so it can rock front to back.
I have found at least 3 different style bases for these.

I don't seem to have a picture of it mounted. Its kinda gaudy if you ask me but the holes were there so I choose to replace it.
BTW, I love that color too as well as the shape of that style Chrysler.
