Outboard control key switch
« on: May 19, 2016, 06:13:44 AM »
I need to replace the key switch on my latest project and I know there must be a trick to open the control. Can anyone show or tell me how?   It's an omc for a 85 ish Evenrude 115 vro.

I don't know if this is much help but here is a link to a schematic on iboats.com:http://www.iboats.com/Remote-Control/dm/cart_id.190344533--session_id.662695353--view_id.1553954

i just did one for my old Larson, just take the 3 Phillips screws out of the back, back comes off and all the guts stay in the front half.

Need to take the handle off first. Allen head screw inside the splined control shaft. Do yourself a favor and don't take it all the way out. Cuz you'll probably have to whack on it to get the handle free.

The three screws on the back was all it took. Back came off no problem,no parts flying all over. Changed key switch and put back togather no problem... But.... Got it to crank over did a comp. test .. Only 70 lbs. in one cylinder... So much for it being sold as a "good running" motor!   b.o.a.t.
