Great day at the lake
« on: April 03, 2016, 02:36:36 PM »
Just a few issues but overall a great day thanks to everybodys help. Spedo didn't work for some reason. But my new (slightly used)chopper 20 prop really woke her up. It was a little windy so I didn't push it but it would start to chine walk at 6000 rpms. One problem I don't like is the power band. The throttle goes all the way forward before it gets up on plane, then there is only about a half an inch between 3000 and 4500 rpms. Can this be adjusted ?

To my knowledge, the throttle handle will move quite far forward before increasing the RPM's of the motor. Little movements of the handle once on plane will change the speed quite a bit. Do not think it is adjustable.

On my CVX-16 with a 20" Raker, I was going 53.5 MPH at 5,700 RPM's.

Data! We need more data!! Actual speed at X rpm.

Regarding adjustment: Really the only adjustment you can do is to make sure the carb butterflies are perfectly open at wot. Not too much, not almost enough. Just right.

If you haven't I recommend you do so.

Nice that you were able to get out on the lake today. As for me I'm still snowbound. See this mornings boat picture below.

Well, ya, gotta find the kink in the peto tube. A friend mentioned using the GPS on my phone. Never thought of that. Oh well.

An app for your phone would be the best way to go, check it against your speedo.
My speedo is off about 1 mph from my gps at 52 mph.

You can also take some videos with your phone .... Hint Hint ...
