Concentrate on Julius...
- Rebuild pump
- Trim rail upholstery to get it closer to seats (can see the color difference in picture and original is worn/cut/hard/etc.)
- New "Burlwood" vinyl on side panel and back seat base (can see discoloration in pic)
- Contemplating instrument panel redo with new mold and gauges (Barbs idea)
- New cover
- Remove "Realistic" cassette tape deck/stereo and replace with 8-Track Tape Deck :)  (maybe)
Not much I can do about the Driver....  ;D

Mark, you're going to rebuild your jet pump? I'll be interested in following that.

I'm sure it was from other years as well, but I found a '79 inspection sticker on the gauge, so I know it was made then.

It really ended up being that I was going to spend $20+ to get the tubing & pickup w/the mounting clips, etc.  So for $39.00 + Free S/H, I could get this entire package.

My thought was that the colors in the gauge would match and give the dash an extra pop.  However, its bugging me that the needle doesn't match the others.  Yep...I'm anal like that.

So Barb, I totally believe by spring, your Speedo will be in the dash.  I thought the dual gauge would save me space in the dash, which it has, and the fuel gauge matches everything else.  Your gauges match mine from '78, so they definitely used it for a number of years, and that would be OEM, which I like.

We'll see.

I have couple. Continue the engine Build/ put gas struts on the engine hatch and bench seat. Also I took the boat off the trailer to do new wiring on it.   Does it all have to be boat related? here's where my other half of my "toy" money goes too..I'm always working on something. Few mod's will be done on this also

Hey Ross.  Yea, will post some pics and info when we get to doing it.  It seems to be pretty straight forward from the videos we've seen.  I'm not planning to touch the bearings, appear to be good as we've been using and running the boat with no issues there.  We just need to replace the impeller and seals?... there's a kit.  You can rent the special tools, as long as you return them within a few weeks (or you buy them).  Just, think that the pump is inefficient... once I get a good tachometer working (got another coming in the mail) I plan to outline the speeds I'm getting at certain rpm levels and see what others tell me that own jet boats, see how it compares.  Maybe it doesn't need it, but I think this is one of the reasons the engine is screaming nearing 50mph.  I used a "tiny tach" and it was showing, I think it's been a while, around 5,000rpms as quickly as 43-45mph... that's way too high, but I don't know how accurate that tiny tach was.

Thanks Wex.   Barb was awesome and gave me her full set from Burnin Daylight.   Great condition,  look great.

So I'm set!

Well, Barb certainly is awesome, no doubt about that! but while we're on the project theme, those same gauges are up for grabs if anybody is doing a resto that needs them. hate to see them go to waste.

Pull the engine and drive out of this Rinker and put it in my CVX18. It's been sitting like this since Nov of last year so time to get at it. Need to find a trailer for it first so I can move it to where I can actually work on it.

I removed the cuddy vent cover and hardware from Hot Knots before she went back to the lake cabin for winter storage.  I have polished the hardware, and sometime in the next couple of months Red will help me make a mold from it, and then the mold will be taken to Frankie at Eaton Quade Plastics to see if we can produce copies.  Almost every CV23 that I see on these forums has a crack up the middle or is missing the cover altogether.  I see that Shawn's CV23 project will be needing a replacement also.  BTW the mold is made from a product called HydroStone and has to be at least 2-3"s thick to keep from cracking during the forming process. Frankies preleminary cost estimate is around $150.

That does seem to be the 1 part that breaks on all the CV-23's...is it just the UV rays taking its toll over time?

I think it's over tightening the wing nut on the front hardware closer and probably vibration on the bow over the cuddy.  The cracks originate in that front peak where that hardware is.  I'm trying to come up with a better idea for that latch for mine.  A lot are missing from not securing them and then running or towing with out being closed properly breaks them off.

Ok, waiting on the marine switches to come in, and a gauge blank...but, very close to being done with this project.

Looks great Doran! Have an idea, why don't you put in a depth gauge?

Red can you post some more pics of the rebuild on this. I am considering a house boat this summer and am wondering what kind of work it is to redo one of them. Is it much different than other boats.
I think this has become an addiction.
