Washing Boat Cover
« on: May 18, 2013, 11:42:34 AM »
What's the best way to wash a boat cover.

The last little "dust cover" I had would go in the washing machine .... after the 2nd time it would no longer repel rain, it soaked right through.

My current cover is heavier, I trailered with it to Red Wing, with a stand in the middle, water runs off before it can soak through ... but it's dirty, and a pressure nozzle on the hose won't get it clean.  Am I safe doing this in the laundry, or do some of you guys have a secret stash of a miracle 3M product that will clean it off?

It got mildewy at the splashwell area ... the rainwater fills up there, because the cover doesn't pull tight with the motor in the way ...

I've used my cheapo pressure washer on mine but its the original 1967 heavy canvass and I had to be careful. I may have blown a few small holes in it trying to get rid of black mildew.  :D
