Title: Bimini top for CVX-18
Post by: Villager19 on June 09, 2022, 06:41:09 PM
I'm thinking about putting a bimini top on my CVX-18, and looking for some ideas.

It looks like the prior owner may have installed one at some point. There are two holes drilled on each side of the hull, facing inwards where the yellow circles are in the pic below. Not a photo of my boat, btw, just one I found online with a good angle of the interior.

I'm guessing they just tied the bimini off to the cleats in the front and the hand rails in the back.

I found this one on Amazon, and it has a neat chart for how to pick out the right size bimini: https://www.amazon.com/Naviskin-Mounting-Hardwares-Storage-Aluminum/dp/B019PR53IC/ (https://www.amazon.com/Naviskin-Mounting-Hardwares-Storage-Aluminum/dp/B019PR53IC/)

I would prefer not to drill more holes in the boat if possible.

Any recommendations would be appreciated! Height, length, width etc.

My cvx16ss had one on when I got it. It has its own attachments for the straps. Th fronts are fine and look ok, the rears are actually mounted to the grab rails.

I?d be willing to bet the holes you circled are from one of those cover support arches to help keep water from collecting on it. The bimini top should attach to the top of the gunnels.

They are nice to have when hanging out on a beach on those hot days!

Thanks this is all good info!

Do the mounts need anything backing up the screws?

Mike - what size did you get?
