Boat Show
« on: February 16, 2014, 10:30:36 PM »
Been a busy few months at the shop,  Chris ( HotWired ) has been here a few days, been a Blast !
I guess he's in the transport business now - he's taking one of my scimitars to California, to a port, putting it in a container going to Austrailia, but he has the privelige of putting a few hours on it first in Arizona.
He played a salesman part in selling the Gold Boat  "Reds Gold" to a fellow that came here from Minnasota yesterday, and I get to build another motor for it, but I ain't saying Nothing about that, but it will surely be at Red Wing in August, you guy's better tune-em-up if ya plan on keeping up.
Garys boat is ready, going to St Louis, Mo. he's planning on coming to get his boat in a couple weeks ... like I said, it's been a busy few months.
Chris in going to be transporting the gold boat to Minnasota with the new owner next month or so, after a little  "flight training"   :)
After all that --- I'll be getting my grandsons CSS-19 in and out, transom, motor :)
and after that
Believe it or Not ?
I'll get to work on my own boats ---  Love It  !
been a good ride :)

but I sure felt like it when I jumped off the back of that boat,
I had to use my stick this morning :)
it's all good, and it's all been fun ...... for the most part

I made Phoenix last night at 1:00 am.  The Scimitar towed great.  I left Oklahoma City with a 10 mph tail wind but that soon changed to a 35 mph head wind before I got out of the state.  Red, you can tell Mark his tops have been tested to 100 mph and stayed in place just fine!  Bucking that 35 mph wind and driving 65 - 70 mph I had all I could do to keep the Dodge from redlining!  I might have under estimated my transportation charges ... I had not planned on 8 mpg!  By the time I got into AZ late last night the wind finally slowed down and it crept back up to 12 mpg.  I am almost afraid to add up the receipts to this point and I still have to get it to California!

.. it is what it is ... and that is how it should be!

Wow Red, you truly are a man of many talents, boats, Christmas lighting, and now romantic connections for the neighborhood.  he he.     I am a bit curious though, did you construct, repair, rebuild those Glastron's in the one car garage shown in the picture?   If so I stand in awe of your accomplishments.   Plugcheck.

BTW, the three Glastron's lined up is my vote for a calendar photo.

So, your boat is going to Australia with a different interior... Reds Gold is back getting built up than going to Minnesota...Gary's boat is going to St Louis with your old interior... Amazing…

BTW when did Reds Gold come back home…Where is your new Scimitar????

the Fox and I made the trip to Houston Texas a few weeks ago to get the gold boat.
My other scimitar is stored at my friends place, won't be bringing it home until the other two
boats are gone, it's a total project but I'm going to try to get it in the water before the shoot out at lake of the Ozarks August 22nd

If I recall that's the one that was hanging in Texas, even now it looks a 100% better, I'm just amazed at your work, you got more energy than most of us...I'm sure the grandson is getting excited to get his boat in the shop...

Yes, thats the one, and Yes again, the grandson has been saving up his money for the CSS-19
rebuild, new interior in the shop where he lives now, he will be bring it down in a couple weeks for the transom and motor job, a simple build, just freshen it up some, put a mild cam in it, he wan't thru-hulls, we'll see ?
It's his first boat, it runs fast enough for him as it is really.

He is from Coon Rapids I think and has family with lake property up near Brainerd. He may be looking for somewhere to store the boat Locally.  Any of you guys got room in your Glastron Caves?

Awesome photo, those are some really lucky folks!  Ole Red doing the resto's, Chris doing deliveries, you just can't beat that kind of TLC - I don't care who you are.  ;)

Hey Red, I noticed in the second video your boat shelter / canopy is still standing.  Mine didn't "weather" the last ice storm so well;
