Not to change the subject but ...

State Farm determined liability was theirs. (Duh!) Then sent me to the Cadillac dealer for an estimate, cuz it's closest to my house. (Double-Duh.)

Looks like I just might be seeing y'all in Red Wing after all. I'm waitin on a check for $1395.59. Hee hee hoo hoo hah hah hah hah hah!!!

Btw Cadillac dealers evidently don't monkey around with that trivial stuff like hammerin out the dent'n bondoing the thing up. They remove the bed'n replace the entire panel!?

Well, it's bout freakin time I got cut a break.

I'm still giggling over the amount of the settlement. Had to chuckle under my breath when they sent me to the Caddy dealer. Figgered they'd be at least as high as A-1, and I was right. Doubt the Toyota dealer'd be much higher?

I feel sorry for the guy that answered today. But he asked for it. He's the one who chirped, "We work in a "team" environment. I'm sure I can help you." I told him the member of the team I spoke with yesterday needed to be benched. Went on to say that if I ran my business like that I wouldn't be in business.

He kept hollerin, "okay okay, we assume liability!" Til I finally calmed down. He said he guaranteed I'd be "less stressed" after we got off the phone. To his credit I was.

Tell ya what Dan. It was worth it in the long run but boy what a pita. Lesson learned? Opt for the full accident report right off the bat!!! No more Mr Nice Guy!

I think the lesson is really, that its just business...you have to do what's necessary to protect what you've worked for...sob stories are irrelevant.

Kinda sad commentary on America when you can no longer take a man at his word. And you have to assume that given half a chance he's gonna try to screw you.

So, in my real life, the one that pays the bills, I am a Systems Architect/Systems Engineer. I am in charge of the corporations financial systems on the IT side.

Every 3-5 years, we have to do a systems upgrade, with a budget of a few million dollars. Guess when that system is being upgraded in 'Production'? (that's what IT folks call the 'live' system)

Yep...Red Wing weekend. Its a huge project, and the upgrade takes about 48 hours of straight work, with a number of folks all working around the clock.

The only way I can come is if the project is severely delayed or cancelled...and gosh darnit, we're ahead of schedule...

Honestly, my one hope is that the find some issue that delays the project to an October release...I'll know in the next month or so where we stand...

Never did have much use for the silly 'steps' the PO put on my lil truck. Always bangin my shins into em on the way in'n trippin over em on the way out.

I like the way the truck looks as if it sits higher without em.

Gonna try'n sell em. $400 new, I'm askin $200? Y'oughta see these things. A lil Nev'r Dull & they look like new!

(Since none'a you tightwads are contributing to the 'fund' it looks like I'm gonna have to finance this Red Wing thing all by myself ...)

Don't really like the grab handles either but they turned out to be kinda useful. They're where I tie down a bimini frame when I carry it on the back of the truck. Plus I riveted eye straps on em so's I can attach the snaps from my lil model bimini when the truck's parked in fronta the shop. Thought about removing them & sticking the eye straps on the tool box but what am I gonna do with the 8 holes the knucklehead drilled for the screws. Used to have a big cow catcher on the front too. Some kid stopped by one day'n said he'd give me $200 & he'd remove it. I said sold!
