Winch Handle
« on: July 08, 2013, 10:32:17 AM »
This is on the CV23 trailer. Anyone have one of these dual speed winches? I don't have a handle for it and using a crescent wrench sucks. I could maybe make one or find a replacement but just don't know what it is suppose to look like.

Nope, never seen one.
Are they both supposed to turn simultaneously?

Winch handles:
The trick is finding the one that fits your spindle.

you can put the handle on either shaft sticking out. The both turn at the same time. It's like low and high gear. You can't really see it in the picture either but the handle can't be more than about 6" long or you will hit your hand on the frame below unless it sticks way out..... Just wish I knew what it is SUPPOSE to look like.

I bought a new handle for mine, heated it up to straiten out the original bend, then I bent it to clear the rest of the frame.  I put the handle on the other sode because there is no threads on the spindles on the other side, there was originaly a sliding clip on the handle to change the handle to the other shaft, one is a low speed spindle and the other is a higher speed, less pulling power, thats the one mine is on.

that is the same kind of sliding lock for the handle I had on this one, just bent like the one I have now, I lost the original handle, but I will find another one some time  :)
