Engine mounts
« on: December 13, 2022, 12:07:05 PM »
Today I have read one thing that made me thinking.

A guy is selling a set of engine mounts (rubber dampeners) because he realized those were the wrong shore hardness for his engine-boat combination. He said that the boat is vibrating too much because the engine mounts are too hard. He also said that for his engine-boat combo he should be using softer mounts.

Does that make sense? If yes, what shore hardness should I be using for my Volvo Penta B230 in CV16-SS ?

Thanks

First time I've ever heard the term "shore hardness" so not certain that is something to be concerned about.    All my I/O boats are/were mercruiser systems and i used OEM compatible parts without any know issues.    I will say the mountings in boats are much firmer than in automobiles, honestly not much flex at all.

In all my boats the Chevy 350 260hp are all hard mounted. No rubber any where.
