Thanks Doug for the vintage pictures of the racing V-153's. That V-153 with the 110 MerCruiser looks like its traveling fast and positioned right with little of the back in the water. Wish they gave specs such as MPH, modifications to the boat, horsepower, whether any had outboards, etc. Come to think of it, we are running outboards about the max HP of that day.

Joe Poole's father was into racing and also sold Glastrons. Wonder if the father ever raced or modifed Glastrons? A nice little project would to buy a basic V-153 shell and build it up to take a 150 HP Merc or Evinrude equivalent. My racing future is in the 1988 Merc 115 HP experimenting with 5 props and motor height - maybe 57 MPH?

Where Jerry?

I know that Jerry and Jim Sellner have a lot of performance boats, such as an Allison, Hustler, and Glastrons for sale, and also Don Larky has his restored Glastron Challanger for sale.

But my present plans are to put the 88 Merc 115 on the Glastron V-153.

Jerry, some of my props might work with your 150 HP Merc on the Glastron GT160. When you ready for testing, let me know.

My neighbor has it. I posted pictures last week.  It's in very nice shape.

Hey David, where are you picking up the props at? Just getting them online? I think I'm going to invest into a jack plate, and then start trying out chopper props.

Nick, I have used various places to purchase props. Scream and Fly forum has a buy and sell for props      http://www.screamandfly.com/forumdisplay.php?5-Propellers       where you might find small eared choppers. I have a small eared 22" as I think a 24" is too much pitch. I found it on Craigslist just by chance and have not tried it out yet. Another place is Craigslist. Then there is Bass Boat Central Prop4Sale        http://www.bassboatcentral.com/props4sale2.htm     E-bay is a good place. It all takes time and not every prop will work. If you know the prop number you are lookng for, a Google search sometimes turns up leads. Best to try the prop out first. If you can not, buy at a price that you can sell it at a profit or break even. I presently have nine props. Some of the props are for the future 1988 Merc 115 HP.

           4        2-blade bronze Quicksilver 21" pitch   #48-49630
1        3-blade stainless steel PowerTech RAF 21" pitch
1        3-blade stainless steel Quicksilver 22" pitch chopper
           1        3-blade stainless steel Ballistic 21' pitch
           1        3-blade stainless steel Ballistic 22" pitch
           1        3-blade aluminum Mercury 19" pitch
