Old Trim Pump Fun - 79 mercruiser 140
« on: September 18, 2023, 03:35:04 PM »
I have a 1979 CVX16SS with the old school all in one aluminum pump with reservoir and reverse lockout. I had replaced this pump before and the lines and rebuilt the rams and reverse lockout, adjusted everything, been good for a few years.

So Sunday everything was great, boat was ready to go for following weekend, went to raise the drive to get it loaded up, trim started getting quiet and moving slow. I first checked for blockage and it was ok no blockage. Pulled it apart and it had one little tiny bit of brush left on one side. Dropped it off at a guy that rebuilds classic car starters and alternators, gauges, whatnot.

I believe we are going to replace the armature and brushes. But it wont happen by next weekend.

That?s great, it?ll last another 40 years?
It?s always some little thing with these old Glastron?s but they?re sure worth it. They are so cool.
